The first of six legendary literary classics! However, just how good was Jane Austen's first novel? That's what Danny and Alexander the Tsar are here to discuss. As the one who read the piece, Danny discusses the structure and narrative and with Alex they compare it to her later works. Danny goes over the reasons he thinks it's weaker than many of her works and how it really reads like her first novel. They go over a little of the history surrounding its publication and how the story came to be and then discuss the themes within and how Austen describes her time in words. They look at things like marriageability, British gentry, mating rituals, courtship, and romance. So many things to discuss in one of the best period pieces every written in the English language.

It's about time! While the anime is one of Danny's guilty pleasures, the light novel by the same name has slowly built up the same appeal in his heart. Whether that be because of the fantastic comedy, the educational insight into the light novel business model, or the the tight cast of realistic characters, Danny has a hard time being patient for the next book. Follow him as he dissects the four main individual characters and their journey through the new entry and what Danny thought worked and didn't work, and what he expects out of them in the next volume. It's fun, it's information, and it's a great dialogue about effective characters and how their relatability fuels and rather poignant look at dreams and every day life.

The second chance can be one of the most riveting narrative adventures in all of literature, and perhaps each person views and experiences that character's second chance in a different manner but for one Danny Archive this story is personal. Switching up the style, Danny decides to dig into his bag of tricks and spice up this manga review chain with a little compare and contrast. Originally it was the anime that made him want to buy the manga, and this time around it was his backtracking adventure through the manga that made him want to visit the anime again. Through his trek he discovered some differences between the two medias that were not relegated to a transition from static to animation, and therefore he decided it would be a fun idea to see how and why when an idea goes from simply the mind and pen of a mangaka to being the property of an animation studio that the same product could come across differently. It's the same as from a movie to a book and while looking at two key sequences Danny hopes to articulate why each media works the way it does, all while exploring perhaps his favorite entry in the franchise.

The return journey through this aged romcom has been trying for Danny. With more exposure to the genre he can see more of the generic cues but that also means when a flare of individuality breaks through it is deserved of high praise. Does the art continue to improve? Is the story held back by tropes? Will Yuuto ever function as a normal teenage boy? So many questions and whether or not the narrative gets in its own way the journey is fun for Danny. This series has been a challenge for him both artistically and critically and that was the very reason he wanted to continue despite some trepidation. They talked about villain tropes so it was only right that they took a turn at grilling the light side with a short look at dumb hero tropes. Can you truly have a good story if your protagonist does not drive the story? Well, Danny and Allen are here to look at a few of the examples that immediately prevent them from doing just that. Provided context for both positives and negatives of their given choices they construct a string of options that can please the audience but also choices that cripple other works. At the end they both discuss their least favorite trope: "Superman Syndrome" and why Disney and other media giants need to take a chance. There are even a few that slip in because it's hard not to think of other tropes in a podcast full of them. Sometimes it's just fun to make a joke of the good guy!
