  • The Family: Cassie brings her Gen X knowledge back to the table - #2612

This just in: Boomer headlines flummox Team Female while Team Male thinks Gen Z music doesn't slap. All in all, it went much better now that we're not trying to incorporate charades into the game. How could we have known silently acting out a scene wouldn't translate well to a podcast?

  • Tom Barnard Podcast - Rachel Mac invites you to laugh camp

    - SKOR North's Judd Zulgad tells the crew about just how bad the J.J. Mccarthy news is along with how long he could be sidelined from his surgery and whether or not fans can expect to see him on the field again this year. Is pickleball here to stay or is it just a phase? Plus, who are some of the best competitive pricks in tennis history.

    - KSTP's Chris Egert chats about the one thing that Tim Walz and JD Vance find common ground on, Diet Mountain Dew. The crew talks about other pops and decides if Tom's weird for liking certain kinds. Plus Egert shares some local headlines from overnight including a house fire that saw no one injured, and an attempted liquor store robbery that was foiled by the owner's 8-year old.

    - Comedian Rachel Mac joins the show ahead of her appearances at the Laugh Camp Comedy Club on August 16th & 17th. Tickets are still available if you're interested in seeing Rachel's set, and you can find her debut comedy album on her site now!

  • The Family: So the THC won't let me be - #2611

You know how drunk/high/stoned people don't really do a whole lot? They either just sit there half-asleep or maybe dance until they pass out. Some argue there are nefarious machinations behind this behavior. There are no such arguments about basketball camp though, so feel free to shoot some hoops. Then there's TV, and we're back to the machinations. You just can't escape them.

  • The Family: The fair, but not that one - #2610

The most important fair in Minnesota was last week. That's right, it was the Carver county fair. It had farm animals, food, and probably other things but we didn't experience those because we were being led by a toddler. We also didn't experience much of the Olympics, which may go down in history as one of the most divisive Olympics ever since the decision to allow non-Greeks to compete. Big mistake, if you ask us.

  • Tom Barnard Podcast - The Olympics ended not with a bang, but a poorly choreographed whimper

    - SKOR North's Phil Mackey chats about the Twins splitting their series against the Guardians and not gaining any ground in their attempt to grab that top spot in the AL Central. The Vikings opened the preseason on Saturday and J.J. McCarthy looked fantastic, is there a chance he starts Week 1 against the Giants?

    - KSTP's Chris Egert talks about some of the recent polling numbers for the 2024 presidential election, talks about 24-hour news stations and their programming,

    - Bob Sansevere talks about his takeaways from the Vikings preseason win on Saturday and what J.J. McCarthy's performance means for his development timetable, how the expected starter in Sam Darnold looked, and how Dallas Turner looks like he'll be the favorite for the Rookie Defensive Player of the Year award. Plus, the Twins' important series coming up against the Kansas City Royals.

    - Kristyn Burtt talks about the controversy surrounding the end of the Olympics with a decision that came in gymnastics, the reception that breaking is getting worldwide and how it won't be returning for the 2028 games in Los Angeles, and some of the controversy around the closing ceremony involving Tom Cruise and his affiliation with Scientology, which is legally considered a cult in France.

  • The Family: Wine and dine - #2609

A Minnesota wine legend has passed, and with him goes the knowledge of whether you should pair a red or a white with the kind of cheese that comes out of a spray can. Unlike the state of Minnesota as a whole, our tastes have not matured over the past few decades.

  • Tom Barnard Podcast - Borderlands is a bunch of claptrap, but the Vikings might be worth watching

    - SKOR North's Phil Mackey chats about favorite cartoon characters, and how the most important series of the Twins' series begins today as they get set for a double header against the Cleveland Guardians as they look to make up ground on them in the AL Central race. Plus a rant about his local Chipotle restaurant,

    - Tim Lammers shares his review of the new video game adaptation Borderlands which stars Cate Blanchett, Gina Gershon, Kevin Hart, and Jamie Lee Curtis. Early reviews for the film are less than ideal, but more importantly how does it stack up on the Lamma-meter? Unfortunately not all that well. Will you be seeing it?

  • The Family: The forbidden topics are religion, politics, and Zionism - #2608

They say there are certain topics you're never supposed to bring up at the dinner table. The list changes every so often, but religion and politics seem to be set in stone. Well whatever's on your list, you can usually count on a Thursday show to talk about it. That and questionable beverages.

  • Tom Barnard Podcast - We discuss politicians and misinformation, but in a fun way

    - SKOR North's Judd Zulgad chats about how the Twins lost to the Cubs yesterday but the real story is how Joe Ryan left the game with a triceps injury and how the club's lack of moves at the trade deadline could already be coming back to haunt them. Plus the lone reliever they acquired walked five batters in his first appearance on the mound.
