He stopped to view The Seattle Times, and noted the cover story featured a black male, being terrorized while delivering papers. 24-year-old Sedrick Altheimer was accosted by an off-duty White man, Pierce County Sheriff Ed Troyer, while delivering papers earlier this year. To make matters worse, the white officer lied and told dispatchers that Altheimer threatened to kill him. In the 12 months since the coronavirus strangled the planet, there have been a plethora of incidents where black drivers have been threatened, attacked and detained by random White citizens. It is imperative that any non-white people who work as delivery drivers create a high-quality code to neutralize these sort of violent encounters. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 3rd study session on Jack Olsen's Last Man Standing: The Tragedy and Triumph of Geronimo Pratt. Olsen is a White male, and a prolific author. Olsen wrote for Sport Illustrated during the 1960's, and penned a celebrated series examining black athletes and Racism. The magazine also credits Olsen with writing one of the best biographies on boxing icon and attempted counter-racist Muhammad Ali. Last week, the book Pratt's return from Vietnam and his sojourn to the West Coast. He venerates Alprentice "Bunchy" Carter for molding his political development, vocabulary and reading habits. Carter and John Huggins were killed on the UCLA campus in a conflict with Ron Karenga's United Slaves organization. Olsen begins to reveal how the FBI's COINTELPRO program deliberately manipulated violence between black people to help neutralize counter-racist efforts. She authored one of Pamela Evans Harris's favorites, Pieces of A Puzzle: The One Thing Black Females Will Not Talk About - which examines the logic of why sex between black females and White men is incorrect and dangerous behavior. She interviews black females who describe the deception, manipulation, humiliation and White Supremacy of their "White lovers." We actually spoke to Ms. Tate at the time of the 2018 Royal Wedding between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. At the time Tate stressed that non-white people across the world are conditioned to by fairy tales to seek White princes and White princesses. These fantasies are generally far removed from the frequently dangerous and always dishonest pairings between white and non-white people. We’ll examine news reports from the past seven days and – hopefully – promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS Oprah Winfrey's 90 minute interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry drew a gargantuan live audience - the ongoing rona restrictions probably helped, and the reverberations of the conversation have been astounding. Markle told the world that Racism/White Supremacy has been a major problem since the Royal Wedding of 2018. She disclosed that Prince Harry's family voiced consternation over the skin complexion of the children and discouraged her from seeking support for mental health. Markle even disclosed feeling suicidal, but totally lacking resources. Since the interview, Piers Morgan resigned from his broadcast position after being accused of minimizing Markle's charges of Racism. In the states, attention is focused on Minnesota as jury selection begins for the trial of Derek Chauvin. Many reports emphasize that no White officer in the history of Minnesota has been convicted for killing a black person. Last week, the book began by detailing the first meeting between Pratt, Johnnie L. Cochran Jr. and Stuart Hanlon. Olsen employs a number of significant descriptors when depicting the physical appearance and phenotypical features of these males. Pratt, a black male, is described as having a "hybrid," "Eurasian," or "Byzantine" complexion, while his scalp produces "white man's hair." Hanlon, the White attorney, brags about his "Jewfro." Cochran explains to his White co-council that the evidence supports the complete innocence of his client, but Pratt was still convicted and restricted to years of solitary confinement. Hanlon begins to learn about Pratt's upbringing in mid 20th century Louisiana - much like Cochran. Pratt describes his mother Eunice's light complexion and non-black heritage - like her "blue-eyed Irish grandmother." He also shares definitive moments of his childhood: Witnessing the Klu Klux Klan brutalize his brother and being arrested after a teenage White girl reported he and his friend for saying "hi" to her. Pratt said he did not understand Racism as a child. Covid-19 rates continue dropping in the U.S., so much so that some states have repealed restrictions and pushing to return business operations to normal. Further south in Brazil, the rates continue to surge, prompting a severe lockdown in the South American country. This week marked 30 years to the date of Rodney King being beaten by the LAPD. We can get back to the business of remaining employed, securing raises and/or promotions, and staying safe in the midst of the pandemic. Along with the month of February, some states also tossed all rona-related regulations and informed businesses that they could open at full capacity without masks. Although this is not a nationwide mandate, many employees may encounter work environments with lax policies or co-workers no longer willing to commit to social distancing. We'll discuss the best strategies for minimizing risk. An Associate Professor of History at Western Carolina University, McRae authored Mothers of Massive Resistance: White Women and the Politics of White Supremacy. Winner of the Southern Historical Society's 2019 Frank L. and Harriet C. Owsley Award, Mothers of Massive Resistance investigates in the indispensable role of White Women in maintaining White Power. McRae details how White mothers, White housewives, and White Women teachers opposed so called school desegregation. She details how this Racist Maternalism is generally excluded from our understanding and scholarship on of the Civil Rights Movement and Racism in general.
