Democrats are starting to worry, and have reason to

A contentious meeting of Republicans and Democrats with the president at the White House ended with Donald Trump walking out once Democrats admitted they didn't come to negotiate, they came for surrender. But the president wouldn't surrender, and Democrats are now shifting to the defensive. We make the case.

How long will the shutdown last? Democrats seem to expect the president to cave. But, at least for now, he has held firm. After the Oval Office address Tuesday, Democrats are starting to realize that victory might not come as easily as they had hoped.

The longer the shutdown lasts, the more pressure there will be on Democrats to give the president the $5 billion for a wall. It is, after all, just less than half of what the federal government spends on a daily basis. The longer it lasts, the more people will wonder why Democrats are opposed to this simple measure to secure our border. When Democrats move to pass "Medicare for All," which will cost trillions of dollars, it'll be tougher for them to make the case that we can't afford a measly $5 billion.

As Trump prepares to address the nation, Democrats are demanding equal time to give their "side" of the issue. This is not normal. The State of the Union has an official response, not a presidential address to the nation. But liberals are so afraid of the possibility of the president making an effective case to the country that they want to be able to undo the damage immediately. CNN's Don Lemon wondered if the address should run only on a delay, so the media could edit out lies.

Supreme Court Justice Darth Vader Ginsburg missed her first day of oral arguments in her 25 years on the court, which has liberals in a tizzy. If she were to leave the court and be replaced by another Trump appointee, expect all hell to break loose. Leftists would not take replacing a liberal hero with a justice that supports the Constitution.

Progressive Chicago is ripping off its citizens by seizing their cars over unpaid parking tickets. When the people who couldn't afford to pay their tickets can't afford to pay their impound fees, the city sells the cars and keeps the money. The Chicagoans still owe whatever they owe on their car note and they owe the city for the tickets, the towing, and the impound fee. Progressive indeed.
