  • 2 Corinthians Part 5: What does the NT teach on giving?

In this episode, Rob and Vinnie begin a discussion of giving from 2 Cor 8-9. What does the Bible say? Is 10% required, or does the NT abolish the demand to tithe 10%?

  • 2nd Corinthians Part 4: You are the temple of God! What does this mean?

In this episode, Rob and Vinnie look at 2 Cor 6 and Paul's assertion that we are the temple of God. They examine it in light of the OT covenant context of Ezek 37 and Lev 26. They also look at its significance in light of Paul's message in 2 Cor: "we are ambassadors for Christ as if God were making His appeal through us!"

  • One Year Later: Reflecting on Israel, Gaza, and Fostering Courageous Conversations in the Church

Rob and Vinnie reflect on the Hamas terror attack of Oct 7, 2023, and Israel's devastating response on Gaza beginning Oct 8, 2023. They lament and grieve the suffering that everyone has experienced. They also discuss how to have conversations aimed at peacemaking in the church. Such conversations are especially difficult when many Christians believe that Israel is God's chosen people and, therefore, they can do no wrong.

  • 2nd Corinthians Part 3: What does it mean to be unequally yoked?

If you were raised in the church, especially if you went to youth group, you have heard it many times: Christians should not date or marry non-Christians because we are not to be unequally yoked. But is that what Paul is talking about in 2 Cor 6?

In this episode, Rob and Vinnie continue to examine 2 Corinthians 5-6 and what it means to be ambassadors for Christ. They also discuss how the unequally yoked passage fits into the text and what it means for us today!

  • 2nd Corinthians Part 2: We are ambassadors

In this episode, Rob and Vinnie continue to examine the text of 2nd Corinthians. They focus primarily on 2 Cor 5-6 and Paul's reminder that if we are "in Christ," we have become a "new creation." For Paul, this means that we are to serve as Christ's ambassadors.

  • 2nd Corinthians Part 1: We are Jars of Clay that the Power will be of God: (4:7)

In this episode, Rob and Vinnie dive into 2 Corinthians 4:7-12, where Paul describes believers as "jars of clay," fragile vessels meant to showcase the surpassing power of God. They explore Paul's profound reflections on suffering, including his mention of a "thorn in the flesh," and consider what he might have meant by this personal affliction. This conversation is key to grasping Paul's message in 2nd Corinthians and offers deep insights into the nature of discipleship and what it means to follow Christ amid challenges.

  • Paul and Corinth Part 5: Paul and the Mega Church

In this episode, Rob and Vinnie continue their discussion of the modern church in light of Paul's letters to the church in Corinth. Can churches learn leadership principles from the corporate world? What is the key to incorporating successful business practices in the church? How much should pastors be paid? Why is it so difficult to remove celebrity pastors from their roles when they do wrong? And how does all of this relate to Paul's letters to the church in Corinth?

  • Paul and Corinth Part 4: Leadership and Conflict in the Church

In this episode, Rob and Vinnie continue their exploration of 2nd Corinthians, focusing on its relevance to the contemporary church. As Paul's most personal and autobiographical letter, much of it involves him defending his actions and apostolic authority. Rob and Vinnie examine how these dynamics apply today—when is it appropriate for pastors to defend themselves, and when should they refrain? They emphasize that love must be the guiding principle for church leadership and relationships.

The discussion also tackles the challenges of church leadership, particularly in the context of mega-churches: are they truly effective in making disciples, or do they dilute the radical message of the gospel? Finally, they dive into church history, questioning the legacy of Theodosius’ decision to make Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire—was this a blessing or a misstep for the faith?"
