The determinetruth Podcast

In this episode, Rob and Vinnie introduce us to the book of 1st Corinthians. There was probably no church that gave Paul as much grief as the church in Corinth. Why was that? In order to understand 1st Corinthians well, we need to understand what was going on in the Corinthian church and how the Greco-Roman world was influencing some of the leading men who were likely the primary source of the problems in Corinth

Rob and Vinnie interview two notable NT scholars: Gary Burge and Darrell Bock. And discuss Rom 9-11 and what Paul has to say about the Jewish people. Do the Jews still have a role in God's plan? Does the New Covenant mean that everything is fulfilled by Jesus including the promise of Land?

Rob and Vinnie tackle the oft-debated Romans 9-11 and ask: what was Paul trying to say and how does this affect modern-day Israel and the Jewish people? Will there be an end-times revival among the Jewish people?

This episode is a deep dive into the text and so it would be good if you have a Bible (or a phone with a Bible app) as you follow along in text.

Rob and Vinnie discuss Romans 1-3 and examine the question of God's faithfulness. Paul argues that we are "all" (Jews and Gentiles) guilty before God, which puts in jeopardy God's promise to Abraham and to the world to redeem creation and to restore humanity to His divine presence. What then is the solution? Jesus! "The faithfulness of Jesus Christ for all who believe" (Rom 3:22).

The conversation finishes with "what does this mean for us?"

Rob and Vinnie interview one of the leading NT scholars in the world Michael Gorman regarding his new commentary on the book of Romans: Romans: A Theological and Pastoral Commentary.

We address questions regarding the meaning and purpose of Romans: Does Romans teach that we must submit to our government at all times? What does Romans say about the restoration of Israel? What is the significance of the women mentioned in Romans 16?
