Scot and Daniel talk about why taking a generalist approach to many aspects of life is often advantageous over a specialist approach to problem solving. There are very few instances when a specialist approach will yield more benefits over that of a generalist. However, it is important to have both depth and breadth in your area of expertise and beyond. We also talk on why you only have so much "give a shit" capital and leadership capital each day, so use wisely.
Some resources on these topics:
Range and The Sports Gene by David Epstein.
The Dichotomy of Leadership and Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink & Leif Babin.
Also check out the Jocko Willink Podcast for more material on leadership.
