Sakinah is a LMT in New York and recently did a talk for Healwell (⁠healwell.org⁠) which is an organization that teaches massage therapists to provide safe and effective care and advocates for access to that care as well as for a larger role for therapists within healthcare. Sakinah is passionate about bringing the conversation about disparities in maternal care especially when it comes to the treatment of black bodies. She shared some data and some stories with us to illustrate how healthcare is not the same for all patients and some of the reasons why.
