Dom also asked listeners what they think the punishment should be for those who make up a hate crime. This coming after another hoax surfaced involving a student at a Virginia school who said that white boys held her down and cut off her dreadlocks after calling them ‘nappy’. Today, it was revealed that the story was made up. Dom suggests an expulsion for this student and Dan disagrees, but it gives cause for the larger question at hand… how should we deal with people, particularly adults, who create hate crime hoaxes? Also, Dom discusses a story in the Washington Post in which a celebrity chef called out the ethnic aisles at supermarkets as racist.

Finally, Dom talks about local Republican committees and yearns for them to come up with a plan to win over suburban congressional seats. It seems as though Mary Gay Scanlon, Madeleine Dean, and Chrissy Houlahan are all over the news recently, becoming the ‘faces of the Trump impeachment.’ Dom feels as though Republicans in Delaware, Chester, and Montgomery counties have given up in the fight for what should be swing counties.

Today, Dom started off the show by talking about a new hashtag trending on Twitter, #ImTheWhistleBlower. Similarly to the public donning Guy Fawkes masks in V for Vendetta, progressives on Twitter are all using the hashtag to express their unity in the protection of the whistleblower who set off the Trump impeachment inquiry. Dom wonders what the hashtag should be for Trump fans, and tries to get #ImTheSilentMajority trending after a caller recommended he try it. Also, Hillary Clinton made another appearance last night, this time on Colbert’s show, and Steve Bannon believes that she will be entering a bid for a 2020 campaign. Also, Donny Deutsch says that Trump, if removed from office, will call on his followers to start a civil war, and Dom proposes his side topic, which is ‘what is the best foreign phrase or word’ in honor of the recent overuse of ‘quid pro quo.’

On Friday, Dom shined light on the infighting at Fox News after the news broke of the impeachment inquiry into Trump’s dealings with Ukraine, predicting that the addition of Paul Ryan to Fox News’s board would cause more anti-Trump angles to persist on the news channel. This weekend, Mark Levin grew very irritated with Fox News host Ed Henry after he repeatedly questioned Levin on whether he approves of Donald Trump’s actions. Levin, frustrated with incredibly pointed questions, finally lashed out on Henry and pointed towards the lack of coverage of Hunter Biden’s shady dealings with Ukraine, and their seeming refusal to find more information on the whistleblower. Also, Pastor Robert Jeffress is receiving a lot of flak after he alluded to a ‘civil war’ if Trump is removed from office. Dom disagrees with the sentiment around the comments made by Jeffress, and plays the original clip to set the record straight.

Today, reports surfaced that college enrollment continues to decline and colleges are trying to adjust to the tapering amount of students. Dom points to the ridiculous high price of a college education as a reason, but ponders if there are other reasons for the decline. Also, Dom asks listeners whether or not a college education is still ‘worth it’.

Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren, while speaking to a crowd at a town hall with the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) union, said she would offer amnesty to all illegal aliens living in the country. Warren said, “We need a path — not just for DREAMers — but also a path for grandmas, and for little kids, and for people who came here to work on farms, and for students who overstayed their visas. We need a path that is fair and achievable. Bring people out of the shadows. It is good for all workers, and we need to get them into our unions.” Dom argues that an influx of this many non-certified workers would drive competition way up and ultimately hurt American workers. Also, Dom talks about Robert De Niro who, while appearing on Brian Stelter’s CNN program, laid into Trump and dropped a couple F-bombs when asked about his critics.

Dom and Ray discuss the scary injuries sustained in the game, and the emergence of the Philadelphia running game.

John Emmons, who will be challenging Representative Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA 6th District) in the next election, joins Dom to discuss the slipping of Houlahan’s “moderate mask”. Emmons explains that in the last election, Houlahan proclaimed herself to be a moderate voice. Now, she’s a leading voice on Nancy Pelosi’s impeachment bandwagon.

Today, Dom led off the show by speaking with conservative democratic congressman Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey’s 2nd district. Van Drew, who replaced long-time congressman Frank LoBiondo, gave his surprising take on the House’s impeachment inquiry. Van Drew, unlike many of his Democratic colleagues, is anti-impeachment due to the effect it will have on his primary job: lawmaking. Van Drew told Dom, “I want to work in this last year and get some things done. We really truly can do it if we tried. It’s not going to happen now because Democrats and Republicans are going to be so angry at each other, we’re in a toxic environment. Somebody said, ‘well yes we can walk and chew gum at the same time.’ Of course we can, but that’s not the issue. The issue is that there’s going to be so much hate, so much anger, so much of a communication breach, that I don’t believe anything significant is going to happen and that’s sad.” Then, later in the show, republican congressman Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania’s  1st congressional district called in to air his thoughts about the impeachment inquiry. “It’s been really unfortunate the course that this entire 116th congress has taken during Nancy Pelosi,” Fitzpatrick told Dom.

And throughout the show, the big topic of the day today was the release of the impeachment inquiry whistleblower’s account of Trump’s misdeeds. In contrast to yesterday’s release of a transcript of a call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, today’s whistleblower document alleges clear evidence of a quid pro quo threat made by President Trump. Zelensky came out and said that the phone call was non-threatening, but that didn’t stop congressional leaders in their continued fight for impeachment. Dom gives his take on the new document, and listeners call in to respond.
