There will come a time in your career that you decide it's time to move to a new organization. Many reasons will steer you to this change. Whatever the reason is how do you look for a new job while you're still working your current one? It gets crazy! You want to be stealthy and keep the two worlds from colliding.
It's time to change! What do you need to change? Jobs, departments, organizations, health, relationships, location? What in your life is not working? I'll give you some top steps that you can establish quickly to have long term effect in your life.
Failing is difficult. We need to take on new things that might be scary and end badly but on the other hand they might be something successful! To have a good career you need to learn something new at least once a year. Things are not as scary as we think they will be. We can overcome those fears when they face us.
If you work in corporate America, work in a small business, own your business you are going to have to provide feedback. Often times it is positive but sometimes it's negative and difficult. You may have a hard time giving negative feedback but you need to learn that people want to know if they are doing a good or bad job and want to fix a problem if it's occurring.
Lack of communication is a big problem. Face to face is all but disappearing, leading to miscommunication, misunderstandings and hurt feelings. One-on-ones are one of the least utilized ways to develop your career, handle problems and discuss successes.

Recently I returned from Ghana where my family adopted a little boy and I've been getting a lot of questions about why I did it and what was the reasoning behind it. I thought I'd share why we decided to do it and how the whole process worked. Before we even though about adopting again we had 5 awesome daughters. As time went on we decided we'd like to adopt a little boy.
