  • [Interview] Accepting the Different Roads with Julie Zantopoulos

“I just had to get to a point where I was like, ‘I'm super proud of how far I have come. And I don't care,’” says Julie Zantopoulous, Author and Youtuber. Julie began her journey as a business partner to host Chrystal Rose but then moved on to her passion for writing. Julie is now a two-time published author and host of the Youtube Show, Pages and Pens. Through Pages and Pens, Julie walks her viewers through the many emotional stages of the publishing process, reminding us that even though our goals can be challenging to accomplish, they are possible.

When Julie was first involved with her latest book’s publisher, she fell victim to imposter syndrome. Since she had to pay upfront for an editing and marketing team, she was sure that her family and friends would invalidate her work. However, she eventually realized that her loved ones’ judgments were a fabrication of her mind and it was only her fear preventing her from enjoying her accomplishments. Now, Julie understands how to appreciate her progress and genuinely be proud of her accomplishments.

Tune into this week’s episode of Self-Love for Breakfast for a demystifying conversation on the ups and downs of putting yourself out there. Learn more about Julie’s publishing journey, overcoming imposter syndrome, and how failure truly is the best teacher on the road to success.

    Quotes
    • “At the end of the day, I did something. I did something that meant something, so I had to find the next thing that meant something.” (10:11 - 10:19 | Julie)
    • “That's a big part of why I'm glad that I had the YouTube channel and that people got to see a progression of me struggling really hard with the book. Then they saw me being vulnerable and querying, which took them through the successes because they're like, ‘it feels like I've watched you seriously struggle and then do it. And now I know that I can do it.’” (13:46 - 14:11 | Julie)
    • “I don't want an agent who doesn't want me. I don't want somebody who's not passionate enough about my book to be excited to sell it.” (19:45 - 20:06 | Julie)
    • “There are so many different routes to success and I had to stop believing that there was only one right road. I had to accept that the road that I was on and the path that I chose was still completely valid.” (27:47 - 27:58 | Julie)
    • “There's always a risk when you put yourself out there that someone will say something, but most of the time, it's just your fear talking and keeping you from living your fully expressed life.” (28:42 - 28:54 | Chrystal)

  • [Solo Sesh] Redefining Balance & Transformation

Do you feel like you have to hide your true self from others? Do you want to transform as a person, but you are afraid to try?

In today’s episode, host Chrystal Rose explains the purpose of her Pendulum program and its transformative benefits. Oftentimes, we confuse our coping mechanisms with our personalities and feel disconnected from who we are. By providing women with a safe space to express themselves and a sense of community, Chrystal gives her clients the tools to discover their core selves. Although it can be terrifying and uncomfortable to admit, we are creators of our own lives and have the power to get to where we want to be.

Tune into this week’s episode of Self-Love for Breakfast for an honest conversation on transformation. Learn more about Chrystal’s Pendulum program, how to create a personal sense of balance, and why everyone is worthy of becoming their happiest self.

    Quotes
    • “I did not numb. I did not try to distract myself. I did not try to quote-unquote ‘keep busy’ as people do when shit is going down. I was present, I was there, and I took care of myself.” (10:04-10:17)
    • “I am the most important because if I can't be here for me– I can't be here for you, I can't be here for my family, I can't be here for my clients, I have to be here for me first. So, balance starts with putting shit out of balance. Balance starts with you, the overflow, and then everything gets easier. Everything feels balanced.” (10:37-11:00)
    • “It's not you becoming something else that you aren't currently. It's not, ‘Oh, you're not good enough, so you need to transform into something better.’ When the caterpillar crawls into its cocoon, it doesn't become a different caterpillar. It transforms into a butterfly because that's its true self. That's who it is on the inside. It's not really becoming something different. Yes, a caterpillar looks very different from a butterfly, but it's not becoming something it's not. It's becoming something it is.” (12:33-13:11)
    • “The person who's sad and depressed constantly: that's not you. The person who is anxious constantly: that's not you. The person who uses food, drugs, alcohol, attention, sex, to feel better, to validate oneself to escape: that's not you. It's not you. At your core is who we bring forward in this transformation process.” (15:09-15:42)
    • “There's so much beautiful transformation that can happen just by being part of a group like this, just that part alone. And we create bonds with each other, healthy bonds. Because we're rising up together, we are ascending together.” (17:06-17:22)
    • “We are the creators of our own life. And I think that that's another powerful thing about this program and working with me is that you get to really step into yourself as a creator; you get to really see how you have created the world around you. You're not a victim of your circumstances. You created it no matter what. We all have made choices in our life that have led us to where we are today.” (19:24-19:50)

    Quotes
    • “I could not go back into that abyss that I had fallen into of depression and anxiety and just crippling fear. Some days, I couldn't get out of bed. I was afraid that if I went down that rabbit hole again, if something else in my life triggered me falling down, that I wouldn't come out of it. And my body had that full body of ‘this is it.’ This is gonna save your life before it needs urgent saving.” (07:19-07:55 | Tia Fisher)
    • “If I don't see a dime off this, if I don't coach a single human and make a single dime, it is worth every frickin penny, just for my own personal growth and what I got out of it.” (10:29-10:39 | Chrystal Rose)
    • “Having more tools to be able to handle certain situations whether it's with anxiety, depression, anger, or trust, having those tools and just the recognition that I've come this far all leads back to being resourced.” (12:27-12:55 | Tia Fisher)
    • “It also has taught me to have better boundaries and recognize what my relationships are with other people. You know, even people who I thought were very close, best friends, things like that you kind of start to understand and feel the energy around you better, so that you're not dumping into something that may not need or deserve to be dumped in on.” (15:47-16:12 | Tia Fisher)
    • “Whenever someone else shares, it kind of pops off all this other stuff, right? It's like, oh, my gosh, like, I feel that too. Like, wow, I thought I was alone in that or like, what I didn't even consider that, and it’s just this whole magical kind of thing.” (21:43-21:59 | Chrystal Rose)
    • “Being in that group of women and watching them was so huge. And continuing in the Self-Love Breakfast Club after the fact and still having that community of women who are putting in the work and who have put in the work and are all here like fuck yeah, let's do this shit. We've all made connections with each other in ways that normal woman-to-woman relationships don't work.” (33:57-34:33 | Tia Fisher)

Through her own past behaviors and work as a self-love coach, Chrystal recognizes that we tend to skip our lower-priced commitments, even if they would improve our lives. • “I really believe as a coach, you can only help someone as far as you've gone yourself.” (03:41-03:48)

    • “Showing up for myself, committing to myself, radically committing to the inner work: it's a game changer.” (06:55-07:07)

  • [Interview] How to Financially Empower Yourself with Bernadette Joy

“Actually going for that big hairy thing that is making us really anxious, that's the thing that we’ve got to go for,” says Bernadette Joy, CEO of Crush Your Money Goals. After Bernadette and her husband paid off $300K of debt in three years, they built their first $1M of net worth. With her practical money tips and entrepreneurial spirit, Bernadette now educates women on their financial literacy and empowers them to claim independence.

Bernadette motivates women to take control of their finances without feeling guilty in the process. Often, women worry that wanting wealth will make them look selfish or evil. However, Bernadette points out that men do not have the same insecurities and are societally encouraged to become billionaires. Although she can't prevent women from worrying about what others think, Bernadette can solve their money issues and remind them that they have ownership over their financial futures.

Tune into today’s episode of Self-Love for Breakfast for an inspiring conversation about creating financial freedom. Learn more about Bernadette’s perspective on wealth, how she rid herself of student loan debt, and why there is no one-size-fits-all approach to establishing economic boundaries in a relationship.

    Quotes
    • “It's no one's business what you do with your money. And the more money that's in women's hands, I think the more good happens naturally.” (06:08-06:16 | Chrystal Rose)

    • “How much time, energy, and money do we as women literally waste on caring about what everyone else frickin thinks? And to be honest, I don't know how to solve that time and energy piece yet, but I can figure out the money.”  (08:53-09:10 | Bernadette Joy)

    • “We have to let go of that whole thing that says, ‘You're a single woman, are you sure you're gonna be okay?’ Yeah, you'll be fine. Actually, you'll probably be better off in some cases.” (13:00-13:11 | Bernadette Joy)

    • “If you're going to be evil, you're going to be evil, whether you're poor or rich. But the bad side of that is that more money, more resources, just like anything else, will amplify who you already were, to begin with.” (15:24-15:38 | Bernadette Joy)

    • “Actually going for that big hairy thing that really is making us anxious, that's the thing that we got to go for. Because that's going to take the most time, the most energy, and it's going to require a lot of self-reflection and figuring out how to do that differently.” (29:16-29:34 | Bernadette Joy)

    • “Having been on both sides, I think you have to really decide what works best for you and for your marriage or your relationship or whatever. And it can't just be like a one-size-fits-all.” (35:57-36:05 | Chrystal Rose)

  • [Solo Sesh] How to Release Resolutions and Set Intentions in the New Year

Do you usually set resolutions for the New Year that are impossible to fulfill? Do you find yourself constantly adjusting the goalpost of what defines success in your life?

Today, host Chrystal Rose explains why setting intentions leads to more happiness than setting goals. As high-achievers, we often believe that we need to complete certain tasks by a certain time and then feel like failures if other things get in the way. Instead of pursuing resolutions that make us miserable, Chrystal believes in choosing intentions, such as joy, that lead to the kind of decision making that actually betters our lives.

Tune into today’s episode of Self-Love for Breakfast for a conversation about setting positive intentions in the New Year. Learn how to release arbitrary goals, appreciate life’s little milestones, and make your journey feel like the destination.

    Quotes
    • “Why not try something different? Why not, instead of resolutions, we set intentions?” (02:12-02:18)
    • “The thing I love about setting intentions is that when you intend to experience joy, or like this year, it's all about joy, you tend to make more decisions that are going to lean towards resulting in joy.” (03:20-03:37)
    • “Having these little milestones along the way makes that bigger goal not seem so horribly long to get to.” (05:24-05:32)
    • “If your journey doesn't feel like the destination, you are doing something wrong.” (05:49-05:52)
    • “We need to understand that our fulfillment and happiness come first. It comes before some arbitrary goal we set. The only person we owe is ourselves.” (09:12-09:24)

  • [Girlfriend Chat] How to Say Goodbye to Overextending Yourself with Deb McCollom

Do you question your self-worth if you’re not always hustling? Do you wear being “busy” as a badge of honor despite being in a constant state of burnout?

Deb McCollom returns for a girlfriend chat about letting go of the constant need to overextend yourself. We grow up believing that if we’re not always padding our calendar, then we’re lazy and not doing enough to succeed. When our friends ask how we’re doing, we quickly answer “busy” without honestly reflecting on how we feel. Although it is normal to have a full life and many passions, it is also okay to relax and fill your space with the things that bring you joy.

Tune into today’s episode of Self-Love for Breakfast for an honest conversation about simplifying your schedule. Learn how to separate your worth from your hustle, take a break when needed, and realize that the world isn’t over if you stop doing the “most.”

    Quotes
    • “I think it is this hustle culture and feeling like we have to hustle for our worth. Right? Like, if I'm not doing the most, then I'm not good enough.” (04:01-04:11 | Chrystal Rose)

    • “I had to come up with this concept of feeding the beast. Everything I do has to feed the same beast. And if I'm feeding multiple beasts, we have a problem.” (07:56-08:10 | Chrystal Rose)

    • “Whoever's listening, if you're like, yep, I'm busy, it's okay to be multi-passionate, but have that break and do not feel the need to fill your calendar when you don't need to fill your calendar.” (11:00-11:12 | Deb McCollum)

    • “I'm filling that space with things that I want to do and the things that give me joy. I try to make a concerted effort to be like, nope, not doing anything this evening. I'm getting better at saying no to those things so that I can just relax.” (14:06-14:23 | Deb McCollum)

    • “The world has not shattered and fallen apart. And I'm like, here I am. Two businesses. Not doing the most. And everything's going great.” (22:36-22:48 | Chrystal Rose)

Driven by a genuine love for helping people, Dr. Jill has proven that holistic practices are very effective when trying to conceive.

    Quotes
    • “What we do, the decisions we make, are out in the matrix of energy we live in, which in ancient Chinese philosophy was called the DAO, and they stay there. And they are starting to be able to measure off the fields we create with our thoughts and our emotions, which is really fun.” (08:41-09:00 | Dr. Jill Blakeway)

    • “I think being genuinely of service and having an open heart is key to a society that's coherent and cohesive, but also to your own kind of mental wellness. It gets you outside of your own little bubble.” 13:58 - 14:15 | Dr. Jill Blakeway)

    • “It's my job. And I love it because it's like being a detective. No substantive questions. Then I sit and map how it's all working together for people and come up with a treatment plan for them that corrects the whole pattern, rather than just some symptoms.” (26:00-26:17 | Dr. Jill Blakeway)

    • “It's so important in anything, right, like coaching and health and all of that, like having those short term goals because when you're only looking at the finish line, it can feel so far away.” (28:07-28:18 | Chrystal Rose)

    • “It's not a one-size-fits-all approach. You see someone, you're like, ‘Oh, their body looks like this, what are you doing? What are you eating?’ And then you try to copy what the other person is doing. And it doesn't work.” (35:44-35:59 | Chrystal Rose)
