It is often said that taking no risk is the biggest risk of all. When you actively decide not to take a risk, make a change, or intentionally redirect the trajectory of your life, you will never see your full potential materialize. And that. Is. Scary. Today’s guest on SLBC is Ginny Hoyt. Ginny is one of the other sister coaches I previously mentioned. She was actually my very first sister coach in this program. It has been so incredible to watch her blossom, grow, and evolve. Ginny is such a beautiful person and has taken intentional change head-on. Today on the episode, Ginny and I talk all things life including steps to getting unstuck, finding clarity for yourself, navigating through anxiety, the fundamental concept of feeling safe in your own body, and much, much more! The effect of poor body image on mental health goes beyond the occasional negative thought. Often, people obsessed with dieting or hyper-focused on their goal weight are more likely to suffer from depression and anxiety and are more likely to have suicidal thoughts. Today’s guest is Dr. Jocelyn Harte, who knows all about the struggles with body image and the effect it had on her mental health. Jocelyn is a masterful emotional and physical body healer, dedicated to helping women up-level their energy, and end the 24/7 struggle about how their body looks and feels. After struggling with an eating disorder, Jocelyn suffered severe depression and anxiety and even had thoughts of ending her own life. Through deep healing and reconnecting with her body, she finally found peace, and she now uses her personal journey to inspire and help other women stop binge eating and regain control of their lives. In this episode, Jocelyn shares the negative stigma she has experienced around mental health issues like bipolar, the importance of educating people about bipolar and depression, and what she does to take care of herself, as well as the capacity she has found to be still and be at peace. In this episode of the Self Love Breakfast Club, Chrystal talks to one of her sister coaches, Emily Bott, in the Hunger for Happiness certification program. Emily is an emotional wellness coach who is on a mission to end the battle with food and our bodies, and having had her own struggles with binge eating disorder, she is dedicating her life to reducing the shame around food struggles and all things body-image. She talks to Chrystal about how a fitness journey turned into an obsession with food and restrictive dieting and how she hid her struggles for many years before opening up and starting on the road to healing. The things that hold us back from being vulnerable and seeking help is the immense shame and embarrassment of not having everything together – something perfectionists in particular battle with. Emily gives some guidelines for how we should think about and approach food and gets into how her eating habits and body-image have changed since she started the journey towards healing.
