He has been fasting since November 2020 and has dramatically improved his health. In addition to shedding over 160lbs, Mike has maintained an A1c in the low 5s. He is constantly tweaking his fasting, diet, and exercise regimes. We delve into what he has been up to since we last spoke and he explains how things have changed for him since going from a weight loss to a maintenance mindset.

I am so excited to bring to you this incredible episode with Dr. Nadia Pateguana! If you aren't already familiar with her, she is a Naturopathic Doctor and Dietary Coach at The Fasting Method. She works with Dr. Jason Fung and Megan Ramos. She also wrote a book -- 'The PCOS Plan: Prevent and Reverse Polycystic Ovary Syndrome through Diet and Fasting' -- with Dr. Jason Fung.

We go deep into insulin resistance and its connection with PCOS. Unfortunately, PCOS is often under diagnosed and/or incorrectly treated by medical professionals. However, on a positive note, insulin resistance, which is also the cause of Type 2 diabetes, can be treated with diet and fasting. Dr. Pateguana also shares her personal story of PCOS and how she has managed it. Dr. Pateguana has a straightforward way of explaining complex topics and I learned a lot by speaking to her.

Even if you do not have PCOS or are not experiencing other women's issues, such as menopause, I highly encourage you to listen to this episode to better understand insulin resistance. Tons of good information in this episode!

Mali is so open and honest. She has been through quite a bit in her life and she has persevered. Mali is 19 years sober and sobriety has informed her mindset when it comes to her health and fasting. She has dealt with a number of health conditions including Type 2 diabetes, a neurological disorder, and high cholesterol. What a fascinating life Joy has led! It was such a treat to hear her story! Joy is 81 years old and has been intermittent fasting for 3 years. We go into great depth about her fasting schedule and diet. Throughout our discussion about intermittent fasting, Joy weaves in many interesting stories about her beautiful and full life. In addition to reclaiming her health, Joy has also lost 75 pounds... incredible! Joy proves that it is totally possible to reclaim your health and weight at any age!

Melissa has had Type 1 diabetes for 40 years and is now giving back to the diabetes community with her health coaching practice. Melissa has not always had the best blood sugar control but she now uses diet, exercise, and intermittent fasting to keep her blood sugars more stable. We had a great chat about changes to blood sugar and weight during menopause. Christina has had Type 2 diabetes for 19 years and, around 1.5 years ago, she decided to take control of her health and started fasting. Within 2 weeks, she was off all diabetes meds and shortly after got off her high blood pressure meds. Also, her arthritis has significantly improved. Christina's weight loss has been dramatic and she's lost 65 pounds to date (252 lbs starting weight).

Christina has a positive mindset and she doesn't let anything get in her way. I love her approach to life! Enjoy this episode!

I can't believe it's been a year and what a year it has been! Intermittent fasting has been one of the best discoveries of my life. I have much better blood sugar control (although it's not perfect) and my weight has been super steady. In this episode, I go over the top 5 lessons that I have learned over the year.
