Deer hunting is the most common thread in the fabric of American hunting culture, and once you've had a good taste of it, it's easy to see why that is. But just as all other enjoyable pursuits have become commercialized so has deer hunting. So much so that sometimes it's simplest components that make it such a great part of the human experience are lost within the market driven perspectives, products, and trends. My good friend Doug Duren joined me to discuss this reality, and provide his insight on the issue.

Topics Include

-Historical view of Deer Hunting

-CWD

-Behind the scenes information from Meateater

-Sharing The Land

-Hunting Access

-Conservation

This week Caleb sits down with one of his best friends, Dillon, discussing summer fishing and review a recent article on the subject. They also share what they have learned with planting 5 different food plots leading into this deer season and some things learned. To finish the episode, we hear about the biggest buck Dillon has seen while in the field and hear about best practices when seeking permission to hunt a farmers land, from a farmer! We hope you enjoy and have a blessed week!

Andrew is a friend and fellow podcaster who has taken on hunting as a first gen hunter. After being contacted multiple times on how to hunt with a muzzleloader Andrew and I decided to host a podcast together to air on both of our feeds to help others learn how to hunt successfully with a muzzleloader.

Our passion for conserving prairie ecosystems is what helped us cross paths which is when I found out that Adam loves hunting doves. He recently purchased an outfitted dove hunt in Argentina, the promised land of great dove hunting, and he joined me on the show to discuss his experiences.

In this episode Kent and Alex interview Jeremy Dinsmore of the Antler Up Podcast to dig into the strategy of saddle hunting. Saddle hunting is the most ultralight method of mobile hunting, but the learning curve seems to be a barrier for many hunters. Jeremy breaks down the how and why of saddle hunting and by the end of listening I think you will feel ready to give it a try. I know I do.

Caleb is joined by his wife Stacie to discuss three topics in the hunting world. What gun dog breed is best, the differences between white and red oaks, and a new controversial law being introduced to youth and disabled deer seasons in Michigan in 2025.
