Today's episode is another conversation I am so excited to bring to this community. Mike Boyle is the co-owner of Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning, which he founded in 1996. He is one of the foremost experts in the fields of Strength and Conditioning and Functional Training, and his passion for coaching and teaching movement is unmatched. Mike’s resume of experience in strength and conditioning is extremely impressive (these are just some highlights):
–Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Boston University for 15 years
–Men’s Ice Hockey at Boston University for the past 25 years
–Boston Red Sox in 2013 (when they won the World Series!)
–8 years with the Boston Bruins in the NHL
–US Women’s Olympic Ice Hockey Team
Mike shares his enthusiasm and knowledge with the SMT Fit Parent community in this conversation.
Mike takes us through his journey in the fitness space and explains how he has gained so much knowledge about training throughout his career. We discuss utilizing fitness as a means of staying young and mobile, what types of movements Mike says we should be able to do independently as long as possible to maintain quality of life, and how the way he views both work and exercise has shifted since having kids. This episode will leave you feeling inspired to take care of your body as you age, and excited to hit the gym for your next workout.
