  • the big F word... Financial Talk + Strategy w/ Craig Popp
We like to think we're smarter humans because we have people like Craig in our circle. Craig Popp is the owner of Accrū Wealth - a financial advising firm in Willmar MN. As a client and friend of ours, we felt like it was time to put a straight shooting finance dude in the TFG hot seat. One thing we appreciate about Craig, is his respectful candidness. You can always count on him to tell it like it is. Oh, and he's a big ol' nerd when it comes to numbers. Which is why we asked if we could pick his brain live on the pod.
We hope you enjoy the convo + learn a thing or two!

  • The State of the Social Union: a breakdown of social media platforms
It's been a while since we've done an episode about the world in which we work every single day... and in case you don't know, that world is social media. One of the best and sometimes frustrating things about social media platforms is that they're always changing and evolving. So we decided to start a new series called TF (The F*ck) is Going on With Social Media.
In this first episode, we lay the groundwork for each platform + the major things you should know about them, so it's a bit longer. Hence, state of the social union. But future episodes will be quicker - we promise! Regardless, if you're feeling a little out of touch with social media these days, give this one a listen. Feel free to send us any questions of things you're pondering, so we can address them on the show! We'd love to hear from you!

  • the struggle of saying no
How good are you at saying no to things? What do you struggle to say no to? Who do you have a hard time saying no to?
In today's JT therapy session (I mean podcast episode) we tackle these questions. This topic is obviously pretty wide ranging, but it's a good one to spend a little time pondering. You might just surprise yourself with who or what comes to mind.
Remember... delayed gratification is the ultimate variable to success! There's also a challenge included at the end and we'd love to hear what your "one thing" is. Send us a direct message or tag us on the socials!

  • get to know The Goodness! w/ owners Nick + Candace Aaker
Two amazing, creative + kind humans joined us for today's episode of TFG! Nick + Candace Aaker purchased The Goodness Coffee Shop right before the world shut down due to the pandemic AND on the cusp of having their first baby. You could say the timing was a little crazy... but these young go-getters have weathered all of the craziness together. **Not without sacrificing quite a bit of sleep in the meantime ;)
We were excited to have them on to hear more about their background story and some of the events that led up to them taking the leap into entrepreneurship. Plus, we had to address the other elephant in the room — being in business with your spouse.
There's a lot of good, honest stuff packed into this conversation! Give it a listen and let us know if you can relate to any of our ramblings :-)

  • EPISODE 100! Just The Tip(s): what we've learned about podcasting thus far
HOLY MOLY! We've made it to 100 episode of TFG!! If you've been listening since the beginning, are just tuning in for the first time today, or fall somewhere in the middle - thank you, THANK YOU. We started this thing to talk openly about the things we were learning while starting TEN17 Media AND to learn as much as possible from other cool, local folks. It has been a freaking blast.
And no, we are still not making a dime off of this thing ;-)
We sincerely hope our episodes have brought you some laughs and value. Only more crazy ideas, inappropriate jokes, and good stuff to come from us!

  • TEN17 Team Therapy: workplace transparency + taking vacations
Our first episode with our now four person strong squad! Tyler, Jayme, Jennifer and Taryn (our newest addition) sit down for a little honest chat around what actually happened when the boss (Tyler) went on vacation...
To be honest, we weren't quite sure what kind of conversation would come out of this topic. But it ended up being an authentic behind the scenes look at our team dynamics, mini success milestones, ongoing challenges + communication style. Plus, per usual, you will get plenty of laughs!

  • why ideas are worth sharing
NOTE: something not so great happened with Tyler's mic in the recording of this episode, so the audio is not our best work. But if you can look (listen) past that, the content is good. And we felt, still important to put out into the world!
Ideas of all sizes - the big, the little, the crazy, the potentially life changing ones - are always worth sharing. This episode is dedicated to that belief of ours.
What's rolling around inside of your head right now? We hope the next 20 minutes give you the motivation (or kick in the butt) you might need to verbalize that thing. Put it out into the world and see what happens. You might just be surprised by what happens when you do!

  • mission 2022: sharing the positive
That time we recorded an episode in early January and then completely forgot about it... until now! Not going to let a good Tyler and Jayme rambling conversation go to waste ;-)
In this one, we talk about our mission for 2022 in regards to our work and some of the goals (a few crazy ones) we're setting for TEN17. Hopefully it brings a laugh or smile to your day, and gets you thinking about some big things you'd like to accomplish this year!

  • Rethinking Rural! Art, Creativity + Community Building w/ Ash Hanson of DoPT
I (Jayme) had the pleasure of meeting Ashley Hanson last year through a mutual friend. It honestly may have been the first blind friend date I've ever been set up with... and it was a blast! Ash has energy unlike anyone I've ever met. She is a positive, creative, passionate and playful force to be reckoned with. She is also a badass entrepreneur - the founder of The Department of Public Transformation. An artist-led organization that works locally, regionally, and nationally to develop creative strategies for increased community connection, civic engagement, and equitable participation in rural places.
She started as a self proclaimed theatre nerd and has worked her butt off to accomplish some pretty incredible things. Her mission is to bring rural rockstars from all across the country together to rethink what's possible in small communities. You'll get to hear Ash's story, get inspired, laugh and learn about all kinds of good things in this one. Enjoy!

  • 5 Ways to Make Your Website Better!
As a marketer, I (Jayme) have a strange love hate relationship with websites. I hate stumbling upon a cool brand with a horsesh*t, non-mobile friendly website. And I love discovering beautiful websites where every detail of the user experience has clearly been thought through. A website is a huge part of the marketing pie - whether you want to admit it or not. Customers and potential customers likely visit (and possibly judge) your website more often that you might think. Even in the age of social media that we are in now.
So, when's the last time you thought about how well yours is performing? Better yet, when's the last time you've changed/updated something on your site?
In this episode, we get into some easy to follow ground rules + tips to consider if you feel like stepping up your game!

About The Forever Game

From the publisher's feed

Following your passions and figuring out the crazy journey we call life is a forever game. It is filled with highs and lows, confusion, clarity, wins, losses and plenty of lessons to be learned along the way. We (Tyler + Jayme) decided to start a podcast to document all of the things we were learning throughout the process of building our digital marketing agency, TEN17 Media.
