We return with some updates on the world! Stick around 'til the end for some COVID talk!
Rest in Peace to the Honorable Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. May we honor her wish.
Cyrex & Super Elsy discuss Justice Ginsburg's contributions, especially women's rights, Jane Doe of Roe v. Wade, & later a discussion of fascism, and how the rhetoric of the Trump administration seems well-headed in that direction. With right-wing extremism being condoned & allowed to run rampant, it's more important than ever that you get out and vote. Your rights may depend on it.
In this episode, we further discuss the pandemic & its second wind. The virus is here & not going anywhere anytime soon. We continue our discussion on racism & police brutality, defunding & reallocating funds that far too eagerly used to militarize police. We also discuss "copaganda" in police procedural shows, & how it skews perception in an public that statistically doesn't much interact with police. Later, we talk briefly about a military servicewoman who went missing after reporting her sexual assault.
We also discuss various topics such as old rap friends, the 2020 election & voting, the antics of Trump & his fans, & some flan! Follow @mama.elsy.flan!
In this episode, we speak about the unlawful murder of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis Police and the ensuing riots. We also cover the updates concerning the global situation, and give our own perspectives on the riots, protesting, looting, racism in America, and discriminatory profiling in general. Ever the humorous podcast, we do strive to remain polite in our humor and sensitive to the serious situations we discuss.
Fact Check: Cyrex accidentally refers to the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution as the one that granted African-American men the right to vote. That would actually be the 15th Amendment. Sorry for the mix-up.
Thank you for listening. Our hearts go out to the Floyd family, and to all those affected by police brutality & systemic racism.
We're back with more updates and rants about the Coronavirus pandemic and how celebrity politicians react! But the pandemic can't all be doom & gloom, so we dedicate this episode to exploring the early 2000s era of Disney Channel original programs. We reminisce on shows like Even Stevens & Lizzie McGuire, as well as later shows like That's So Raven & The Suite Life, discussing both impact and how different the network became during these periods. Talking about TV shows is fun.
Corona can't keep us down! We safely recorded this episode indoors and painted! We talk some more about Coronavirus, Disney Channel shows eras, and more! Well, we only hit the first era of Disney, but it's an interesting conversation for another episode! We also go in on Drumline's sequel, A New Beat, how boring it is, and reminisce about marching band times.
We're talking a lot about the Coronavirus in this one. Seeking humor through all of the seriousness. We talk about some updates on the reports as well as the panic. We also discuss a YouTube video that touches on sensationalized media in the US vs the UK, and how it can relate to escapism. As always, we get into talking odd topics (ghosts) as well as about various shows we like to watch, like Handmaid's Tale, The Office, Law & Order, and more. And shout out to Dollar Tree.
Cyrex & Super Elsy in the car talking about the correlation between Corona beer & the Coronavirus. No actual medical advice, just humor. Fast & Furious references. Also sorry Regina King! Called her Brenda initially! Also we propose a mashup of Ice-T's "6 'N The Mornin'" with the Law & Order theme song. We also talk a bunch about The Office (American version, but still got love for UK version)!
We turned a Saturday night date into a new episode! Join us as we talk about an awesome buffet dinner, Cyrex's performance that night, and a few shows we've loved!
The Freak Show is back! Better than ever as we enter the new decade! Join Cyrex & Super Elsy as we talk about resolutions, Batman movies, and even a brief spot on history! Enjoy!
