In this episode we spoke with Mike about his aviation career, the Red Arrows, the Hawk T1 fastjet, spitfires, flying close formation safely, near fatal Red Arrows training accident, advice for future pilots and more!

👉🏻 Who Is Mike Ling Pilot?

Mike achieved his childhood dream when he was selected to join the Red Arrows for the 2008 display season to fly as Red 3 before then being chosen as Red 7 in the prestigious Synchro Pair for 2009. In March 2010, while leading the Synchro Pair as Red 6, Mike survived a head-on mid-air training collision at a closing speed of over 750 mph. A low-level ejection caused major injuries resulting in surgery and months of rehabilitation before Mike could get back in the air.

In 2012 Mike flew as Red 9 in flypasts for major events including the London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony and Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Other career highlights include racing a jet against four-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton in his F1 car. These achievements have made Mike a familiar face across the air display scene.

Mike was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours List at the end of 2017 for his services to the Red Arrows, and subsequently received the Masters Commendation from the Honourable Company of Air Pilots in October 2018. He became a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society in March 2019.

Mike left the Royal Air Force in April 2019 after 21 years of service. He has since become a commercial pilot and flight instructor and is a full-time member of the Blades Aerobatic Team, the world’s only aerobatic airline. In this role he performs public displays but also relishes in the opportunity to give passengers the chance to experience close formation aerobatics in a team of all ex-Red Arrows pilots.

Typhoon fighters were scrambled to intercept two Russian long-range maritime patrol bombers as they transited near the Shetland Islands within NATO's northern air policing area, the government added.

And if our fighters are running out of fuel do we just send more fighters or do we just allow them to do what they like as long as they’re non aggressive? Are there any rules here that are unwritten which we as the general public just don’t understand?

“I started my fitness journey 9 years ago, I suffered from low motivation and my mental well-being was at an all-time low. I did not have the confidence to step onto the gym floor, but I found the support I needed in a personal trainer. She taught me that the gym environment could be welcoming and supportive but best of all fun! 

I was overweight and after having my beautiful daughter I suffered from postnatal depression but was in complete denial of it! I managed to keep up that facade for a good two years leaning on heavily sugary treats to make me happy but it just made me feel worse! It wasn’t until we were on a summer holiday with my wonderful family and I struggled with a short walk that I realised I needed to make a change… I have never looked back!

I have used this philosophy in my own personal journey and have gained the experience and knowledge to now support others in their journey. 

I am fully trained to Levels 2 and 3 in Personal training as well as an experienced life coach. I offer weight loss, muscle gain and nutritional advice. I can support you in confidence towards exercise and within your life. I have Chronic illness experience and support clients with joint pain or low mobility. 💁🏻‍♂️ Who is Nick Seedsman?

The Warrior Refit Foundation was founded by Nick Seedsman, a former Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) veteran, Australian Special Operations forces. After serving in the military for 13 years, including three combat tours in Afghanistan, Nick happily returned home only to find that he slowly and catastrophically began to decline physically and mentally. He was in such a severe state that neither traditional treatment nor drugs were helping. Eventually, his quality of life became non-existent. After many failed traditional medical treatments and extensive research, Nick discovered a stem cell medical treatment in Colombia. He learned they have the most advanced medical stem cell technology applications worldwide for his conditions. Nick completed the treatment and slowly began to feel better, restoring his ability to function and do daily tasks. Most importantly, he once again found the will to live. Unfortunately, to pay for the treatments, Nick sacrificed his financial means, which would not be possible for many veterans. Nick’s key treatment-focused conditions include, but are not limited to: chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, autoimmunity, and multiple active viruses in his system, including dengue fever, PTSD, TBI, major depression, and anxiety disorders. After receiving systemic IV treatments in the blood, targeting the autoimmune, fibromyalgia, fatigue, and viral components, Nick regained his stable and reparative immunity, the ability to sleep, and his energy levels returned to a state of “ability-to-function.” After the intrathecal treatment, Nick’s mental health significantly stabilized across the board on all fronts, where Nick has standard control across his mental health. The degree to which Nick’s life changed, which he personally measures in the form of “operating at a 2-4% of life with only 2-3 months left to live,” to a dramatic change of ~70% of his health was dramatic. Nick says he’s capable of living life again and is living a full, active life, a goal that seemed out of reach before his stem cell treatments.
