What are limiting beliefs? Well, they’re thoughts or opinions that we have that we believe to be true. And because they’re limiting – these beliefs hold us back in some way, or they have a negative impact. They can hold us back in achieving what we want to achieve in our life or from doing what we want to do. And they can be both conscious and unconscious beliefs. These beliefs are mainly formed in our early childhood and when we get older, we can form new beliefs both limiting and empowering. The good news is that everyone has limiting beliefs of some sort. But how do you know you have limiting beliefs and how can you identify them? Well on this episode of #TheExecutiveCode podcast I explain more about limiting beliefs and will bring you through an exercise so that you can physically determine the impact of having limiting beliefs versus empowering beliefs.

Many people consider EGO as something that’s bad. Mainly because society has led them to believe that it means being arrogant, self-righteous, full of self-importance, being cocky or proud and such like. And when people speak about EGO they refer to others as having a big EGO – as being full of themselves, above their station or being overconfident and so on. Therefore the perception of EGO can be negative. And people find themselves asking whether they’re doing something because of their EGO or whether it’s the right thing to do. There’s one thing that I come across quite often in conversations – and that is the concern about jumping ship. What do I mean by that? Well, you can get someone that is in a career, a job, or running a business – and when you ask them why do they do what they’re doing – they say because it pays the bills. And yet when you describe to them what they could be doing – in other words, their purpose – they say they can’t. They can’t not do what they’re currently doing and start doing something different. Even if it’s just slightly different. And even though they know they would absolutely love to be doing what’s described and how they could make money from it, and they describe how great it would make them feel and how excited they’d be and thrilled to be doing it – they still can’t do it. They can’t jump ship. So what’s happening? Did you ever go on a plane trip where you’ve to go from one airport to another, and then make a connecting flight so as to get to the airport of your final destination? And when you do arrive at the intermediate airport, you want to rush past all the people in the plane to get out as quickly as possible to get to the notice board to find the gate number for your next flight. There’s a new home that I’ve created for people and I’d love to share it with you. I'm on a mission and that mission is to save lives. And when I mean to save lives – I mean it both literally and metaphorically. You see there are many people that come to me that just want to give up on life. How do you stop comparing yourself to others? People compare themselves to others all the time. In fact, it’s part of life. Without being able to compare – we can’t know and experience what is contrast. Equally, without being able to compare – we can’t evolve, develop, grow, innovate or create. So trying to stop comparing yourself to others is impossible because it’s part of what we’re to do. However when we compare ourselves to others and we end up harming ourselves, then that’s when we should take a look at how we can minimise comparing ourselves to others. When you compare yourself to others you can either elevate yourself or you can diminish yourself. And when you diminish yourself, then you’re lowering your confidence and your self-worth. You can become more anxious, negative and even depressed. And you can end up spending a lot of wasted time ruminating on the results of negative comparative thinking. So how do you use this natural ability of comparing yourself to others to your advantage?
