The Give Me Five Podcast: An Uncultured Look at Pop Culture and Nostalgia

After a 2 week break we are back! Well 2 of us are. Rob was busy flying back from D23 in California. This week we revisit She-Hulk to pay homage to Madisynn (with 2 n's and a y but not where you think it is), we check out Amazon Prime's Rings of Power, and Greg convinces Omar to watch Biography WWE Legends on A&E.

We also cover Moonfall, which is more than expected and probably just about as bad. But it's on streaming now after it's theatrical run back in February.

All this, and our regular shenanigans!

Game of thrones is back! This time a prequel about the Targaryens called House of the Dragon. We used to do special episodes for Game of Thrones because of spoiler complaints, but for now we kept things relatively spoiler free and tucked in nicely at the end of the episode.

Because of this, even if you detest spoilers you have the opportunity to listen to us unpack the HBO Max / Discovery / Warner Brothers controversies, the Blumhouse horror filme Black Phone and the latest Fisney+ Marvel show She-Hulk.

For the question of the week we're talking prequels! Good ones in fact. What are the best prequel shows and movies?

A new Walking Dead anthology show appeared this week and Greg checked it out based on the strength of the leads (Terry Crews and Olivia Munn) Will it furthur the world of The Walking Dead in an interesting way or will it make some of the same mistakes that past Walking Dead spin-offs have made.

Day Shift is a fun vampire hunter movie starring Jamie Foxx. But is it good enough to start a franchise?

For the question of the week we look back into the past. Both our past (last weeks Prey episode) and the world's past (where do we want to see a Predator show up next. Yes, we are doing the top 5 eras we would like to see in a Predator movie!

The graphic novel / story that couldn't be filmed was finally filmed and released on Netflix. Did The Sandman capture the magic of the source material? How well did the cast embody the Endless? Should Death get her own series (yes, please)

Rob checked out the fun, action packed Bullet Train, starring Brad Pitt and we all went a few hundred years in the past to spend time with Commanche nation and watched them wreck a Predator in Hulu's Prey. I know they were fierce warriors, but this particular Predator had to be a trainee right? Maybe the "slow" Predator the other ones didn't want to deal with?

Its a good thing this week had so much good entertainment, because we also had to mourne the lack of Jif Extra crunchy peanut butter and the loss of Choco Tacos.

The question of the week is what are the best personifications / representations of death in media?

We've got more entertainment this week than a drunk dude driving around Walmart in a scooter AND we even have a drunk guy driving around Walmart in a scooter. But beyond that we discuss the trailer for Spirit Halloween, the deaths of several celebrities including Star Trek's Nichelle Nichols.

Our topics include the Lincoln Lawyer (show), DC's League of Superpets, Jordan Peele's Nope and our usual hijinks.

The question of the week is "what are the best closing arguments in film and TV?"

No we aren't going anywhere, its just an Elvis reference.

Of all of the musicians we have read and talked about, Elvis oddly hasn't come up. So Greg went into the movie blind as to the truth and embellished portions of the King's life. Is Elvis made for huge fans or can people who aren't fans enjoy the film? We also cover San Diego Comic Con 2022, Resident Evil, a beautiful horror comic series called The Me You Love in the Dark, and the Netflix star-packed spy / hitman thriller The Grey Man

In which we talk about a kid friendly move (Sea Beast) in a non-kid friendly way. A non-kid friendly movie (Bob's Burgers) in a semi-kid friendly way, and a docu-series that should be non-kid friendly but is so lame that it kinda is kid friendly. And there is news about The Bear season 2, the Rob Zombie helmed The Munsters, some space stuff and our usual Florida mishaps.

This weeks Top 5 is the best cartoon series for adults. No kids allowed! And a special top 5 for Patron Juubles birthday, no kids allowed there either.
