The Give Me Five Podcast: An Uncultured Look at Pop Culture and Nostalgia

The show has been on for 9 years and we haven't chatted about it yet. I'm talking about The Blacklist, and how it can advance despite some huge changes.

Rob read a fantasy trilogy, he lets us know about the War of the Archons, a fantasy series putting common men against gods.

And while we usually don't review too many episodes of the same show in a row, the Book of Boba Fett episode 5 had some huge reveals and surprises.

There's a Side A Give Me Five this week: What are the top 5 shows that continued on after the main character left the show?

We review the brash DC spin-off The Peacemaker. Does James Gunn bring the fire and obscure music again OR is it a cynical rehash?

Scream is out (technically Scream 4) and we get a fairly spoilerific review from Scott and Rob. They let us know about the fun, the gory, the problematic and the oddly sentimental.

Hotel Transylvania 4 - Transformania is out on Amazon Prime. This time missing its biggest star, Adam Sandler. Does it hold up or was Sandler right to bail on the film?

A new game is in Beta, and our guest host has been checking it out for the past week. He lets us know all about Super People.

There's a Side A Give Me Five this week: Whatare the top 5 animal sidekicks from live action movies?

Very weird episode tonight as there have been quite a few celebrity deaths (Betty White, Sidney Poitier, Bob Saget, Ronnie Spector) and a few of them MAY be linked to one of our hosts.

While sorting that out, we chat about Book of Boba Fett and Sing 2. Boba Fett is a bit controversial online with people critiquing its tone, setting and other elements of the show, but what do the important critics (us) think?

Rob saw Sing 2 and gave us a report on the music, story and overall quality of this family film.

A Christmas tradition! No, not Santa bringing treats, or Omar dressing as an elf so he can can convince his neighbors to give him free nog, its The 3rd annual international Christmas Tradition Triva quiz! (it also might be the last because its getting hard to make crap up)

After the quiz, its been 2 years since Netflix's the Witcher graced our screen. 2 years to digest the first season's time switches and sword and sorcery. Season 2 is upon us and we review it here. Does it hold up to the hype that grew out of season 1? What adventures will Geralt, Ciri and Yennifer get up to this season. And will my Siri continue to activate every time Ciri's name is said? (the answer to the last question is yes... always yes...)

Ron's Gone Wrong also hit Disney Plus after it's theatrical run in November. We check out this family friendly computer animated film about the dangers of tech, social media, and things named Ron.

All this, and Florida news and some big comic publisher news involving Dark Horse comics.

Fatman came out at the height of the 2020 pandemit s#!ts#0w and barely anyone noticed. Well recently Rob DID notice this Mel Gibson gruff Santa vs hitman tale (taking place during a gvt takeover of Santa's shop?)

We had differing opinions of the film unrelated to the lead actor who is controversial but undeniably a great actor. But we did agree that it was a surreal movie with a weird storyline.

Stay tuned for our question (discussion?) of the week based on the movie, what are the top 5 corrupted versions of typically good characters (ie. Bad Santa etc)?

Rob is back from his cruise and may have started another French revolution in the Caribbean. Good thing he has plenty of knowledge from reading the series The Royal Institute of Magic by Victor Kloss.

We also finally got a chance to delve into The Wheel of Time series on Amazon Prime. This high fantasy series has great acting, cool effects and an interesting story but has been called unfilmable. Which side will win out?

And Omar got deep with some physicists, learning about the math behind Black Holes.

All this, and Florida news, Hawkeye, Kenny G, cruising, Anne Rice, Marvel movies, a child threatening Christmas and much much more.

This week we are throwing a music special your way. Our host that doesn't follow music as closely is on a cruise and I have the passwords, so we decided to talk about some of the best albums of the year. We also cover music we revisited this year and books, podcasts and documentaries about musicians,

We also have 2 special guests! Our Patron and resident Bruce Springsteen fan Alec and a friend of Omar's who wandered into the recording session while dressed as a reindeer, Andrea.

It's pretty freeform, so here are just some of the topics we cover:

John Mayer, Doja Cat, SOB Rock, Dee Gees, Springsteen, Halsey, The War on Drugs, Pulp, Monster Magnet, Beastie Boys, Replacements, Rise against, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Steely Dan, Pearl Jam, Velvet Underground, Lou Reed, Dave Grohl, Poison, 80s Glam metal, Phillip Glass, the 1971 Documentary and a whole lot more.

Check out some of the things we talked about on our Amazon affiliate account and you'll help out the show.

If you have any other music suggestions or want to reach out to us, we can be found on Twitter at @givemefivepod or via email [email protected]

Rob is out cruising. I'll let you decide what I mean. Whiole he is gone we take a deep dive into season 15 of Always Sunny in Philadelphia, a show that makes you feel like a terrible person when you watch it but you have a great time getting there.

We also check out 8 Bit Christmas, a holiday throwback to the 80's featuring Nintendo, the infamous Billy Ripkin card, some NPH and a lot of heart.

There's a Side A Give Me Five this week: What are the 5 holiday episodes of shows you watch / think others should watch each year?
