5th Sorrowful Mystery
The Crucifixion
On this Holy Saturday, we conclude the recitation of the Rosary with the 5th Sorrowful Mystery, the Crucifixion.

Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death.  Amen.

 MUSIC
"Stabat Mater - At The Cross Her Station Keeping"

Continuing our 72 hour Triduum prayer (no opening, no closing on each of the three days) today is Good Friday where we wait with Jesus in prayer in the Garden.....and bow our heads in anguish as He hangs from cross....

MUSIC
Kyrie Eleison by Dan Gibson's Solitudes

The Beginning of the Holy Triduum...

The next three days- Triduum-  (72 hours) are really considered one prayer in the Catholic Church. To that end, there is no formal closing to our prayer on Holy Thursday or opening/closing to Good Friday. The ideas is that we are awake to the steps of Jesus' passion and death-- that we do no leave Him during this difficult time....

30 Pieces of Silver
The cost for betraying Jesus and handing Him over to the authorities...30 pieces of silver.  What is the real meaning of this amount of money and how does it reflect our own choices in life?

SCRIPTURE
Matthew 26: 14 - 16

MUSIC
Richter: Dream 13

LENTEN PRAYER
We fly to your protection, O Holy Mother of God; Beneath your compassion, hear our petitions, and rescue us from all temptation.  O Glorious and Blessed Virgin Mary.  Amen.

OUR LENTEN MARIAN PRAYER
We fly to your protection,
O Holy Mother of God;
Beneath your compassion,
hear our petitions, and rescue us
from all temptation.
O glorious and Blessed Virgin Mary.
Amen.

Perfect Sacrifice
The rollercoaster ride of Holy Week is a bit disquieting.  We go from the celebration of Palm Sunday and by weeks end we are standing on Calvary watching our Savior suffer and die for our sins.  This is the perfect sacrifice of inexhaustible love.

SCRIPTURE
Isaiah 42: 1-4

MUSIC
"O Sacred Head Now Wounded" - John Catchings

LENTEN PRAYER
We fly to your protection, O Holy Mother of God; Beneath your compassion, hear our petitions, and rescue us from all temptation.  O Glorious and Blessed Virgin Mary.  Amen.

The Carrying of the Cross

Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.

 MUSIC
"The Wonderful Cross"

This is our last Friday in Lent so we are keeping the mood and feel rather slow and reflective (Easter is aroud the corner!). Two wonderful songs we hope you will enjoy. If you can, closer your eyes while listening....

Song 1: Psalm 62 by John Michael Talbot
Song 2: The Deer's Cry sung by Rita Connolly (see the video on YouTube)

The Deer’s Cry

I arise today through the strength of heaven
Light of sun, radiance of moon
Splendor of fire, speed of lightning
Swiftness of wind, depth of the sea
Stability of earth, firmness of rock

I arise today through God's strength to pilot me
God's eye to look before me
 God's wisdom to guide me
God's way to lie before me
 God's shield to protect me

From all who shall wish me ill
 Afar and a-near
 Alone and in a multitude
 Against every cruel, merciless power
That may oppose my body and soul

Christ with me, Christ before me
Christ behind me, Christ in me
Christ beneath me, Christ above me
Christ on my right, Christ on my left
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down
Christ when I arise, Christ to shield me

Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me

I arise today
