  • Episode 62: From Solo to Social > Bible Study habits

The social, animated, interesting bookclub you didn't know a bible study could be!!! Break-up with the idea of it being a boring drudgery.

Ever feel like your Bible reading could use a little more life? In this episode, we’re diving into the power of reading scripture together—why it matters, how it deepens your understanding, and how it turns what can feel like a solo discipline into something rich with connection.

I’m sharing my own journey from reading alone to experiencing scripture in community—and let me tell you, it’s a game-changer. We’ll talk about the practical side of starting a Bible study group, from logistics to commitment levels to creating an inviting space that gets people excited to show up.

Because here’s the thing: for most of history, scripture was read in groups. It was discussed, wrestled with, and brought to life through conversation. And when we bring that back, something shifts. The words become more than just text on a page—they become a lived experience.

So if you're ready to break out of the rut and discover a fresh way to engage with God’s Word, this episode is for you.

  • Episode 61: Patterns of Jealousy & habits of healing

What if jealousy is more than just a fleeting emotion, but an eye-opening revelation about our inner insecurities? Join me, Jenna Zint, as we unravel this complex feeling through the comforting lens of Christian faith. You'll hear personal stories that showcase the surprise and shame often accompanying jealousy, even when we think we've moved past it. Together, we’ll explore how our sense of identity and self-worth can influence how susceptible we are to envy and how grounding our self-image in God’s love can offer a powerful antidote.

Imagine jealousy as an unwelcome chin hair—suddenly appearing and hard to ignore. Instead of overreacting or denying its presence, let’s examine it with scientific curiosity. We'll dig into the reasons jealousy pops up, especially in specific relationships and situations, and how often it is tied to a fear of lack. Discover the liberating shift from viewing others' successes as threats to understanding them as opportunities for celebration. By recognizing the underlying fears, we can transform jealousy from a relational issue to a situational one that can be handled with grace and insight.

Finally, I'll share my personal journey of letting go of over-responsibility and embracing a mindset supported by a higher power with infinite resources. This shift away from a "hustle " mentality to a more holistic view of success opens up a path for healing, growth, and genuine joy in others' achievements. Visualizing jealousy as a younger version of ourselves trying to take control, we learn that managing this emotion can become almost instinctive. I encourage you to engage with this episode, share your feedback, and perhaps see jealousy as not just an obstacle but a stepping stone to deeper self-awareness and emotional balance.

What if your well-intentioned habits of people-pleasing and perfectionism are actually driving you towards loneliness and burnout? Join me, Jenna Zint, as I wrap up our enlightening three-part series on over-responsibility in relationships. Discover the intricate patterns of behavior that can lead us to take on more than our fair share, from the martyr complex to the overwhelming need to be everyone's savior. By breaking free from these cycles, we can encourage more balanced dynamics in our interactions with others. Through my personal journey of unlearning these habits, I share practical tools and insights that can help you release the grip of over-responsibility, ultimately leading to more fulfilling relationships and personal growth.

In this episode, I recount the tough but rewarding process of stepping back from over-functioning, particularly within family dynamics. By sharing a candid story about my daughter's struggles with math homework, I illustrate the significance of allowing loved ones to face their own challenges. • Episode 59: Part 2- Ditching Over-Responsibility

What if your acts of generosity are driven by fear rather than joy? Join me, Jenna Marie Zint, on the Habit Lab Podcast as we uncover the complexities of over-responsibility in relationships. In this episode, we unravel the fine line between acts of love and the unhealthy patterns of overextending ourselves. Through a lens of curiosity and compassion, we explore how seemingly selfless actions can stem from fear and obligation, rather than genuine care, and how this affects our well-being and relationships.

We dive into the art of setting boundaries and recognizing our limits in offering support to others. We talk about the exhaustion and resentment that arises from giving more than we can afford—emotionally, physically, or spiritually. Using relatable metaphors, like the seesaw of balance, and personal anecdotes, we address the need for self-reflection and honest assessment. We'll delve into the tendency to slip into the savior role, especially within Christian contexts, and discuss the importance of understanding and respecting our true capacity.

Redefine your approach to love with us as we trace the threads of loneliness that often accompany over-responsibility. By confronting fears of unmet expectations and failure, we can embrace a more balanced dynamic where both partners contribute equally. This episode encourages you to question the roots of your actions, distinguishing between love and fear-based responses, and to release the need for control. Let’s embark on this journey together, where we turn up the volume on our thought habits and move towards healthier, more fulfilling relationships.

  • Episode 58: Part 1- Breaking Free from Over-Responsibility

What happens when the admirable trait of responsibility takes a toxic turn? Explore the intricate dynamics of over-responsibility with me, Jenna Zint, as I unpack its hidden pitfalls. In this opening episode of our enlightening three-part series, I share personal stories that highlight how overgrown strengths can become dysfunctions, leading to chronic loneliness. You’ll hear how my own experiences of taking on more than my share in relationships, like with my husband, have led to unintended consequences, and how the recognition of these patterns is key to nurturing healthier connections.

The conversation continues as we delve into the twin challenges of control and over-responsibility, manifested in behaviors such as micromanagement and perfectionism. These tendencies, often rooted in deep-seated fears, can result in anxiety, burnout, and even avoidance. We explore the unhealthy expectation of always having to be the "bigger person" and the vital role of embracing mistakes in relationships. Our journey together emphasizes the necessity of setting boundaries and the dangers of selflessness when it suppresses our own needs, paving the way for a more balanced life.

Rounding off our exploration, we trace the origins of over-responsibility back to childhood experiences like parentification and conditional love, often creating a "lonely loop" in relationships. With heartfelt anecdotes and spiritual guidance, I encourage you to identify where your own patterns originate and seek healing. As we prepare for the next episode, which will delve deeper into the harmful aspects of over-responsibility, join me in breaking free from these chains and finding clarity and balance in your life.

  • Episode 57: Holiday Habit Hangover

    Holiday Habit Hangover: (noun)
The hazy hang time after the holidays when the kids are back in school, the guests have left, but your rhythms and habits are still recovering from all the festive chaos.

--->The temptation? To start getting judgmental of yourself for not being fully back on track yet—or worse, to feel hopeless that you'll *never* catch up.

In this episode, I’m sharing the alternatives:
➡️ Remind yourself it takes 10 days to two weeks for things to return to "maintenance mode".
➡️ Give yourself grace—no need to overwhelm yourself or let discouragement creep in.
➡️ Try tackling just three tasks a day (10 minutes or less!) to build momentum again.

If this episode hits home and you’d like some support- I’d love to work with you one-on-one coaching session. [Link to book a session w/ Jenna]

In this episode, we reflect on how openness, trust, and understanding have been the cornerstones of our relationship, even as my brother made the difficult decision to step away from the church. Whether it’s the difficult task of balancing our father's dogmatic approaches or finding common ground through curiosity and vulnerability, we unpack the complexities of interfaith relationships. Join us as we affirm the power of unconditional love and curiosity in family relationships. Whether it’s my dad's light-hearted attempts to reconnect with my brother through "The Chosen" series or our earnest efforts to respect each other's life paths, this episode is a testament to love that transcends belief.
