Elyse Fitzpatrick is my guest for Happy Hour #89, and she does not disappoint. Elyse is the mother of my friend, and previous guest, Jessica Thompson. Elyse holds a certificate in biblical counseling from CCEF (San Diego) and an M.A. in Biblical Counseling from Trinity Theological Seminary. She has authored 22 books on daily living and the Christian life. A frequent speaker at women’s conferences, she has been married for over 40 years and has three adult children and six really adorable grandchildren. Elyse and her husband are members of Valley Center Community Church, a reformed congregation in the community of Valley Center, California. She defines her ministry with these three phrases: No fluff, no bricks, just the good news of a crucified and risen Christ.

In our conversation Elyse is so honest and vulnerable about her sin and the ways that she has made parenting mistakes. She presents the gospel that applies so clearly to the ways that we feel tempted to beat ourselves up and withhold forgiveness for ourselves. No matter what stage of life you are in, I think her words and encouragement will be like water to your soul.

The guest for The Happy Half Hour #5 is Jessica Turner. She was on The Happy Hour back in the stone ages on episode #30. On today's show, we catch up and talk about everything from her favorite TV series, books and app. She shares that she recharges by reading and has learned how to do that in her normal days during times of waiting (did you know that on average, we are waiting on something or someone for 45-60 minutes every day!?). And finally, I learned that her pet peeve of incorrect grammar is probably going to keep her from reading this post, so I am pretty sure I can say anything I want. My guest for Happy Hour #88 is Amy from The Bobby Bones Show. Amy and I met several years ago during my short-lived career in radio. Since then, she and her team have gained a ton of popularity and have millions of listeners today. Most of you, I imagine, are among those millions and are familiar with Amy and The Bobby Bones Show. One of the best parts of my conversation with Amy was getting the chance to hear a story from her with so much detail, honesty and vulnerability...without her co-hosts adding their commentary. My guest for Happy Hour #86 is Molly Huggins. Molly is a Christ follower, 14-year veteran of the Army National Guard, ex-helicopter pilot, and stay at home mom to four babes. She has lived the Army life in some form since the age of 18, deploying in support of the War on Terror in between trekking across North America as an Army wife. She is a storyteller at heart, sharing on her stories on her blog.

Molly and I met on an airplane on our way to Allume last Fall. I was so captivated by her story, that I knew I had to have her on the show. In our conversation, Molly shares her story of growing up in a military family, meeting her husband in flight school, losing her best friend in a helicopter crash and being deployed with a baby at home.

I don't have any military connections, so I thought her story was so fascinating and heart breaking, but was so encouraged to hear how her faith had helped to carry her through all of her highs and lows. I think you'll enjoy hearing her story, even if it feels so different from your own.
