A long overdue episode where I share my deep love for pole dancing with the incredible Dr. Cat Liang. She is a clinical psychologist and pole dance instructor who has conducted research on the therapeutic benefits of pole dance, particularly with women survivors of abuse.

We talk about the internalized shame that women carry about their bodies and their sexuality. We talk about the importance of witnessing other women reclaiming their bodies through sensual movement, as well as the power of healing in a community of supportive women.

We also discuss how creativity and pole dance help trauma survivors gain a sense of agency over their bodies and their emotions, and learn to feel safe with discomfort.

In this episode, I talk about the 3 layers of human existence. Most people only live in the layer of the mind. The thoughts, the stories, the judgments. This creates a limited experience of reality. The next layer is the body, where we connect to life outside of thought. We feel. We are present. The body then becomes a portal to the spiritual dimension: the connection to all life force itself. When you connect to the deeper layers of existence, your mind becomes a creative tool that can access a deeper intelligence.

There’s a deeper thing that’s driving the NEED to keep overthinking.

What am I really afraid will happen if I STOP overthinking?

What do I believe it would mean about me, my life, and my identity?

How can I dismantle the shame so that I am free from the NEED to overthink?

When we no longer dehumanize ourselves for being 

Imperfect,

Unsuccessful, 

Incapable,

Vulnerable,

Uncertain,

Then we are free.
