Both my Dad and I grew up and lived in Ohio for most of our lives where we learned to hunt whitetails and turkeys. We both always dreamed of one day hunting elk but we were uneducated on how to get a tag and wrote it off as something that was unrealistic for an eastern hunter. After realizing that there are many opportunities to hunt elk every season we have taken full advantage of what September has to offer. In this episode, we talk about our season and the things we have learned, what we plan to improve on next season, and at the end of the episode I tell the story of the bull that I shot with Ben and Colin this season!

Although they often hunt in groups and use group calling strategies, they also have a lot of experience calling elk hunting solo. In the last episode, we talked about reading sign during the early part of the season and into the middle of October. In this episode, Aaron, Jake, Ted, Nick and I pick up where we left off and talk about what "hot sign" we are looking for during late October and during the rut.
