The Ian Furness Show

After a WHL hockey game this weekend in Portland, Ian explains why he's now a believer in hockey jinxes. Shockey is not buying into it. Howard Schultz is releasing a book, and planning to run for president. He's now apologizing for what he did to the city of Seattle over a decade ago, and it feels hollow to say the least. Maybe if he had apologized the day the team moved, we'd have forgiven him, but it's too little too late. Now he wants to run the country? The guy who folded at the first sign of adversity? Seattle has had some bad owners over the years, including owners that tried to move our teams out of the city, but Schultz is easily the worst team owner this team has ever had.

Lindsey Thiry covers the Rams for ESPN. She gives us an in-depth look at the team as they prepare to face the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl in Atlanta this weekend. The Cougars lose to Oregon yesterday. Today, Ernie Kent was scheduled to hold a press briefing in his office, and it's been postponed and hasn't been re-scheduled. Hmmmmm. Texts are coming in at 49451 on Howard Schultz and his too-little-too-late apology, unsurprisingly. Softy also has thoughts on Schultz, also unsurprisingly.

One week from today we'll be getting ready for the Super Bowl. In the meantime, the controversy from the NFC Championship continues with Robey-Coleman getting fined for a play he wasn't even penalized on. It's easy for us to say, but Saints fans, maybe it's time to move on. Kevin and Ian went to a trivia night, and the team owned it, which raises the question, should KJR start hosting sports trivia nights? With football nearly over, it's time to start focusing on college basketball. CBS Sports' Jerry Palm discusses all things college basketball, including an explanation of the net rankings system. Ian Rapoport has all the latest NFL news. Will the non-PI call lead to rule changes? What is he seeing at the Senior Bowl, and what types of gameday innovations will we see at the Pro Bowl this year?

The Pac-12 has reportedly decided not to hold the 2020 football championship game in Santa Clara. They're looking at withe moving it to LA, hosting it at the home team's stadium, or moving it to Vegas. LA should be out immediately. The home team idea is okay, but the best option is to move the thing to the new Raiders stadium in Vegas. Rob Rang has a list of players to watch for Seahawks fans looking to do some scouting during the Senior Bowl. Texts with thoughts on scouting, trivia, and Felix and the Mariners. Softy and Ian discuss college basketball.

Tune in every Friday at 2pm for two Ians. Ian Furness welcomes Ian Rapoport from NFL Network to go over all of the biggest news of the day in the National Football League from fines to suspensions, and injuries to signings.

Chambers Bay Distillery sponsors Ian's visit with Rob Rang of NFLDraftScout.com on Fridays at 220pm. CBD is a small local distillery founded by two local guys, Alan and Jeff where their mission is simple, "To Create Uniquely Extraordinary Spirits"... Featuring Ghost Dog Whiskey, Raan (rhymes with Pawn) Vodka and their CBD Bourbon which is aged in a boathouse above the waters of Puget Sound

Ian is broadcasting from Jimmy's on First following Media Day for the Mariners at T-Mobile Park. There's obviously been a lot of frustration from fans over the off-season due to all the moves the M's have made, but they did the right thing. They needed to make some moves to give the team a chance to win, and they did. Ian has optimism every year, but this year it's because they put the right pieces in place. Mariners manager Scott Servais walks across the street to Jimmy's on First to talk with Ian about the 2019 Mariners roster, and what fans can expect from the team this year and in the future. We've got audio of Jerry Dipoto making his opening statement today at Media Day.

Jerry Dipoto was asked why fans should still be excited for the 2019 season even if the team isn't expected to be great this year. The Athletic's Corey Brock has thoughts on today's media briefing, the 2019 team, Edgar's Hall of Fame election, and more. Texts weigh in on the M's in 2019. Is Ian drinking the teal Kool-Aid? Softy is at the Central Bar and Restaurant with his own thoughts on today's events.
