Drama will happen to us or around us when we live on earth, so how do we deal with it? It can be with a family member, teammates, friends, or people you interact with, drama is part of our life. So in today’s episode, we are going to talk about how to deal with drama from a biblical standpoint.
“We all make mistakes, but making mistakes is different from drama”.
Step 1
A lot of the world's problems, from the most minuscule problems to the largest of international issues, could really be solved by just having a conversation with someone. You cannot control other people, so if you have a problem with someone, it can only be handled by you. It's out of your control if they have a problem with you... However, you can resolve your problem by talking directly to that person.
Matthew 18 says, “if your fellow believer sins against you, you must go to that one privately and attempt to resolve the matter if you respond your relationship is restored”.
Step 2
The second thing is whenever you're conversing with the person who might have created this drama, you want to speak the truth.--The truth, but with love.
Proverbs 28, 23 says “If you correct someone. With constructive criticism, in the end, he will appreciate it more than flattery”.
Step 3
It is important to set boundaries when dealing with drama so that you can protect yourself, your energy, and the relationship as a whole. Defining boundaries can be done in many ways, but it usually involves your time and energy. You can control the way you interact with them, and how often you see them. By doing this, you can protect your time and energy.
Step 4
It is not selfish to set boundaries. Boundaries protect you and your energy, because you can't pour from an empty cup. Creating boundaries allows you to be in the right space and interact with others during the day- be it at home, at work, at church, or in your everyday life. Sometimes it is having moments of quiet so you can just discern what the Lord is saying about the situation. Those moments require setting a boundary, taking care of yourself, and protecting your energy from being drained.
Step 5
You should consider it a joy. I keep having drama. Why is that? You can go back to those two questions, and ask God, "Hey God, why is this drama happening all the time and how am I involved in it? And what do you want me to learn from this?
James says in chapter one, verse two, “my fellow believers When it seems as though you're facing nothing but difficulties, see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy that you can”.
