Jon and Stuart are reunited just in time to talk about the chaos that the J3 promotion race is descending into. The duo are back behind their mics to talk about:
Blaublitz Akita (of course)
Surprising Sagamihara
Good refereeing (a rarity....)
And all things J3!
Enjoy the listen, and thank you for all your support!!
Unfortunately we had to begin this episode by talking about some disturbing recent events involving J.League players off the pitch, with the latest transgressor, Ademilson of Gamba Osaka, most probably costing himself his job after his DUI arrest on Sunday.
That soured what had been a terrific Gamba win the previous day, with the man himself scoring the winner at the death but then taking his celebrations way, way, too far, and as we move on to events on the pitch we begin with the game at the Panasonic Stadium, before moving on to Cerezo Osaka's defeat at suddenly resurgent Urawa - those two results leaving the Osaka clubs knotted together on 48 points. Next up Sam sets Ben down on the couch for a therapy session after FC Tokyo's profligacy (and later, utter stupidity) cost them dearly at home against Yokohama F.Marinos (all that runs to 44:17).
A review of the wins for Nagoya, Kashima and Sapporo follows, before we wrap up the episode with the draw between Tosu and Shonan and a look ahead to upcoming top flight fixtures.
Back for his third solo pod of the week, Jon Steele brings you up to date with the results from Wednesday's J2 round, and looks ahead to another full slate of games this weekend.
Flying solo again, Jon Steele rounds up the J3 weekend, and looks ahead to the upcoming Round 23 action.
In another solo episode of J-Talk: Extra Time, Jon Steele reviews the weekend J2 action, and looks ahead to the midweek round coming up on Wednesday.
Kawasaki continue to roll, and after we might have been accused of starting to take their amazing season for granted, we right that wrong by hailing the champions-elect and their phenomenal performance - the latest example a 3-0 home win over Nagoya.
We move on to an excellent week for both Osaka clubs, before Ben has a sook about the officials in the Yokohama FC v FC Tokyo game, and we give props to Sapporo and Shonan after much needed wins, and also Urawa, who hit Sendai for six.
#Apologies for the audio quality this week, we weren't recording in a motorway tunnel, honestly.
Jon Steele in the hot-seat as he takes us through the ups & downs of another J2 midweek slate.
Enjoy!!
*cliche alert* A veritable smorgasbord of topics in this First Period of J-Talk: Extra Time with Stuart Smith & Jon Steele. Highlights include:
- Stuart & Jon getting irate as JEF United stink up the joint
- Praise for two young forwards
- Tokushima & Avispa march on
- A crossbar festival in Matsumoto
- A look ahead to this week's games
As always, thank you so much for listening & your continued support.
A couple of crunch games involving top six teams dominated the J1 Matchday 21 fixture list, and we lead this episode with the narrow victories for Gamba Osaka and Nagoya that further tightened things up in the Scramble for Second Spot.
Kawasaki's home win and Urawa's smash and grab in Tosu follow, before we sink our teeth into the goal-fests elsewhere.
The race for promotion to J1 is hotting up as the days & nights grow cooler, so Jon Steele & Stuart Smith take a look at the fab 4 at the top of J2. The gentlemen talk:
- Tokushima's home draw fetish
- The Avispa Fukuoka juggernaut
- Disaro-less Giravanz Kitakyushu wobbling
- Post game shenanigans overshadow a crucial Nagasaki win
They also look at Yasuhito Endo's head scratching move to Jubilo Iwata, and chime in on Yuya Yamagishi's eye opening move to Avispa Fukuoka.
Thank you for you support - enjoy the football!
