The Human Energy Field. Energy Medicine is a general term used to describe a wide and ever-changing field. What healer's have known for years and now medical science is beginning to understand, is that we are all beings of light and it is our light that maintains our physical, mental and emotional well-being. Chakras are spinning energy centers located within the human body. They function as receivers and transmitters of life energy. There are seven primary chakras, aligned in a vertical column from the pelvic floor to the crown of the head. They form the main centers of a system that contains thousands of smaller energy points. This complex circuitry holds within it the keys to our evolution and "wholeness." The term chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel or disc. Descriptions of the chakras first appeared in the Vedas, ancient spiritual texts dating back to 2,000 B.C. Spiritual seekers used the chakras as a focus of meditation to raise consciousness.

Dr. Robin DiPasquale, ND, RH (AHG)

Robin DiPasquale, ND, RH (AHG), is the former chair of Bastyr University's botanical medicine department and has her own private practice as a naturopathic physician.

Before attending Bastyr University to obtain her naturopathic medicine degree, DiPasquale was a bit of a "freelance" herbalist and homeopath, having done self-study and attending summer school at the National Center for Homeopathy. She worked at a health food store dispensing herbs and had been a massage therapist for many years.

Now, she feels that her career as a naturopathic physician and faculty member at Bastyr allows her to have more of an impact on people. "What I really appreciate is the opportunity to share with students the wisdom and the gifts that plants have to offer," she says.

Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, Neuroanatomist and Author

Dr.Taylor is a Harvard-trained and published neuroanatomist who experienced a severe hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain in 1996. On the afternoon of this rare form of stroke (AVM), she could not walk, talk, read, write, or recall any of her life. It took eight years for Dr. Taylor to completely recover all of her functions and thinking ability. She is the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir My Stroke of Insight: A Brain Scientist's Personal Journey (published in 2008 by Viking Penguin) and was chosen as one of TIME Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World for 2008. In addition, Dr. Taylor was the premiere guest on Oprah's Soul Series webcast and her interview with Oprah and Dr. Oz on the Oprah Winfrey Show was aired on Tuesday, October 21, 2008.

Dr. Taylor is the National Spokesperson for the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center (Harvard Brain Bank) and travels the country as the Singin' Scientist (listen to the Brain Bank Jingle). In addition, she is the Consulting Neuroanatomist for the Midwest Proton Radiotherapy Institute (MPRI), which uses protons (rather than photons) to battle cancer. Since 1993, she has been an active member of NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) and is currently the president of the NAMI Greater Bloomington Area affiliate in Bloomington, Indiana.

Discussing The Seventh Chakra. The Seventh Chakra or crown chakra is located at the top of your head. The color is white for me with yellow and gold mixed in. It basically glows. This vortex is about individualization and your feelings about religion and or spirituality. I believe that spirituality is the journey of one's soul into their divinity. Spirituality is very individual, as it should be... it should sing to YOUR heart. Some people are very fortunate to bring their religious teachings with them as they evolve into their spiritual selves. The seventh chakra governs the central nervous system and all of your skin.
