Kev and Nixxi talk about awful spots, Kev’s replacement ‘tank’ of a car and Christmas cards. The episode continues the gum-abscess story, phones remain broken, Interact is active, and the pair move deeper into the first Christmas season of the programme. Kev's awful replacement car - the 'tank' - has no useful heater, blower or electric windows, while his broken tooth has produced a huge white gum abscess that he unwisely pokes and bursts. The phones are still broken for a third week, Interact is active and the Error 404 title comes from a missing Richard Whiteley image. Nixxi contributes the tidal-wave/snorkel story and the pair get into 2012/end-of-the-world discussion. Zoey is in the studio/webcam orbit, and Bomfunk MC's featuring Jessica Folcker's Crack It is judged bad enough to be removed from the playlist.

Kev deliberately runs his outgoing car out of fuel before returning it and ends up stranded, while Nixxi wins Legend Tune with Sash!’s “Ecuador”. The newly launched Interact shoutbox is already central to listener participation, Miley chews an iPod lead, and an early Mustang reference appears among the listener banter. Interact is described as having been introduced the previous week because Facebook and MSN were becoming hard to follow. The show introduces the live shoutbox that becomes Interact, replacing the old forum after spam problems. Nixxi’s single coarse chin hair becomes the origin of the long-running beard and Furby jokes, while a new studio and ongoing phone-line problems provide plenty of additional material. This is the key Interact origin episode. The old forum has become overrun with spam, so Alex rapidly builds a replacement shoutbox and Kev tests it live on air; Ryan and Amy are among the first people to use it. Nixxi's single coarse chin hair becomes 'the beard', spawning the bearded-lady, Furby and 'Kev & Furby Show' jokes that recur for years. Kev reveals that he only wears Umbro socks, Nixxi admits to mismatched socks and Parmesan-like feet, and the new studio is contrasted with the freezing, tinny temporary setup used the week before. Safri Duo's Played-A-Live is replayed, an important callback to Nixxi's original Show 3 Legend Tune winner.

Nixxi's Legend Tune choice, Progress presents Boy Wunda's Everybody, opened the Halloween show as the winner, with the score standing at Nixxi 12 to Kev 4. Nixxi then took Halloween night off, leaving Kev to present 'Kev & Nixxi without the Nixxi' and fend for himself. The second half became a full Halloween Story Mix, while a WWE DX Invasion Tour competition sent Nikita to Newcastle Arena after she survived Kev's deliberately ridiculous Triple H question.

Kev celebrated his 24th birthday with a Legend Tune win as DJ Dado's X-Files beat Nixxi's choices. The studio filled with cards and chocolate cake, complete with a rather optimistic five candles, while Zoey surprised Kev with an Aston Martin driving experience. Listeners joined a conversation about the best surprises they had received, and Kyle delivered an unforgettable verbal disaster by announcing that his sister had given birth to his daughter before hurriedly correcting himself to niece. Leftover bargain pizza also gave birth to the wonderfully useless idea of Postal Pizza. Away from the birthday chaos, the newly launched Kev & Nixxi iTunes podcast gave listeners another way to catch the show.

Nixxi won Legend Tune with Delerium featuring Sarah McLachlan's Silence, although first there was the small problem of the studio being completely knackered. The desk had effectively given up, the meters and speakers were useless and nothing wanted to behave, so Nixxi kept talking while Kev turned emergency engineer and eventually brought the whole thing back from the dead with the radio equivalent of switching it off and on again. Once they had a functioning studio, Kev and Nixxi moved onto fears and phobias, including Nixxi's very specific horror of dead prawns and Kev's wince-inducing childhood penknife accident involving a fingernail. The next Legend Tune choices produced another row when Kev picked Stretch & Vern's I'm Alive after Nixxi admitted she had considered choosing it herself the night before, beginning the accusation that Kev had stolen her tune.

Legend Tune descended into a proper Saturday-night argument. Kev's Nigel & Marvin - Follow Da Leader looked to have won until Alex dropped a vote for Nixxi's Solex - Close to the Edge at 8:59pm, forcing Kev and Nixxi to declare a draw and take a point each. Alex also arrived with another parody, while Basshunter tickets and an absurd pile of V-Punk CDs gave the pair plenty to throw at listeners. Joke of the Week returned, the webcam caught the studio antics and Kev and Nixxi continued doing what they did best: new music, daft competitions and an unnecessary amount of arguing over absolutely everything.

Nixxi won Legend Tune with Paffendorf's Be Cool, but getting that far required surviving the 9pm panic first. Kev arrived with almost no time to spare and found the ancient Windows 2000 playout system still struggling to wake up, bringing back memories of the computer meltdown in Show 6 and briefly leaving the pair without music. Once normal service resumed, Nixxi told the story of losing her iPhone on a night out and listeners shared the important things they had managed to lose. Kev topped it with the childhood gold chain he lost, secretly had replaced, and then discovered years later inside a washing machine. Miley's appetite for Nixxi's sofa returned to the conversation, while Alex unveiled an Auto-Tuned introduction for Joke of the Week.

Nixxi's side won Legend Tune with Gouryella's Ligaya, chosen by Jordan after she handed him control of her selections. Kev then arrived with a drive-through grievance after ordering a chicken burger and discovering that somebody had forgotten the fairly important chicken, launching a discussion about the most minging things people had ever eaten. Nixxi considered what disgusting food she might tolerate for money, Kev remembered accidentally putting macaroni cheese on cake in America, and listeners joined the culinary horror show online. Kev and Nixxi also gave away tickets to a 3D gala screening of Pixar's Up. Music remained ahead of the curve too, with the pair pointing out that they had been playing Example's Watch the Sun Come Up weeks before it started making noise elsewhere.

Listeners use the iNudge browser sequencer to make short pieces of music and send them into the show, producing three finalists and a live vote. Nixxi tries to recreate Chicane’s Poppiholla, while Kyle gets a 15th-birthday dedication with Warren G and Nate Dogg’s Regulate.
