Nixxi was learning to drive and arrived with plenty to say about how stressful the whole experience was. Kev offered the level of sympathy and driving advice listeners would have expected from him, while Nixxi worked through lessons, nerves and everything else that came with trying to get behind the wheel.

Nixxi won SmeggHeads 3-2.

Kev managed to break the studio, giving the pair another technical disaster to work around live on air. Rather than letting that get in the way, Kev and Nixxi simply folded the chaos into the show and proudly presented the night “in association with Beats by B&M”, their distinctly budget answer to expensive headphones and glossy celebrity endorsements.

Nixxi won SmeggHeads, much to Kev's disappointment.

Kev and Nixxi went back to 1999 for another year special, packing the show with records from the final year of the nineties. The pair picked through the hits they still loved, rediscovered forgotten favourites and let the listeners join the nostalgia as the music repeatedly triggered memories and arguments.

Nixxi and Tommy won SmeggHeads together.

Cake became the night's important issue, and Kev and Nixxi wanted to know whether the listeners loved it as much as they did. Favourite cakes, cake-related opinions and the inevitable food tangents filled the gaps between the music and regular features.

Kev won SmeggHeads 5-4.

Nixxi was away, leaving Kev with Rob Davies and SmeggHeads quizmaster Simon Gunton for the night. With three people perfectly capable of encouraging each other, the show quickly became a louder version of the usual Saturday-night nonsense, with Rob and Simon joining Kev across the music, listener messages and quiz.

With Nixxi away, Rob Davies faced Kev. The regular round tied 3.5-3.5 before a British Commonwealth tie-break; Rob answered 53 exactly and beat Kev.

Apple fever took over the studio as iPads, iMacs and iPhones were joined by increasingly less legitimate additions including iFr00t, iPear and iPizza. Kev and Nixxi stretched the i-everything joke across the show while listeners joined in and the technology arguments kept multiplying.

After a disputed regular round, SmeggHeads went to a pocket-change tie-break. Nixxi's £1.24 was closer than Kev's £2.80 to the actual £1.90, so Simon declared that Nixxi had snatched the win.

Kev and Nixxi arrived straight from an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet, which meant the night began with two presenters who had eaten far too much and were prepared to discuss every part of it. The buffet stories, food regrets and listener reactions kept resurfacing between the music and regular features.

Alex ran SmeggHeads with Tommy helping Nixxi. Nixxi and Tommy won the week, bringing the running contest back to 4-4.

Nixxi's love affair with the Mac continued while Kev remained firmly on the other side. The pair argued over Apple, computers and whose approach made more sense, with listener opinions adding fuel before the conversation wandered into the rest of the week's nonsense.

Kev won SmeggHeads 4-3 and moved into the lead in the running contest.

Kev and Nixxi decided the listeners needed educating about the water system. What should have been a simple explanation became a full Kev and Nixxi lesson, with questions, dubious science and the usual diversions making plumbing considerably more entertaining than it had any right to be.

SmeggHeads went to a Golden Gate Bridge cable-diameter tie-break. Kev's guess of eight was closer than Nixxi's seven to the actual answer of 36, so Kev won.

Nixxi managed to get locked in a bathroom and Kev naturally decided this might mean she was engaged. Timepiece problems then shortened the show, leaving the pair to squeeze the night's stories, music and listener nonsense into less time than planned.

Kev dominated SmeggHeads with four correct answers, beating Rob and Nixxi.
