Wayne has a bone to pick after reading a tweet that said "I missed the memo about how independence means a brewer makes better beer." How is quality measured anyway?

Jason expands on his feelings on NEIPA fatigue. With NEIPA's and fruit slurry sour beers exploding, it's about time we have label warnings for can conditioned beers that are not shelf stable.

Now that Thomas Creek Brewing is for sale we're asking if this is a pattern. Assuming we're in a craft beer bubble, Jason feels as though the bubble has begun to burst.

Welcome to summer! Summer beers are trending towards session IPA, Berliner Weisse, Glitter IPA's and light fruited sours. Discussing those rapidly enters us into a debate on whether or not the trending thick fruited milkshake sours and pales are summer beers.

But let's face it, Pilsner is the classic, go-to, summer beer. If you include the macro brews, the pilsner style lager is by far the best selling style in the USA and around the world. American craft beer is finally diving in and doing a good job with the style.

Michael Kiser and Austin L. Ray of Good Beer Hunting join us for a sprawling conversation. We sat down in the beer cellar at The Porter Beer Bar in Atlanta to share a few bottles and stories.

We start with Jason's latest mead binge before getting to work. Michael details GBH history before we open it up and cover a ton of ground discussing the GBH Fervent Few, distribution challenges, changes in Texas law, the effects of direct sales, and shelf stability. We dig deep in a couple of spots starting with the sour beer lexicon.

We move on to discussing the most controversial article GBH has published to date "I Know What Boys Like" by Brian Roth. It pulled the curtain back on "boys club" Instagram accounts and what marginalized peoples see interfacing with these companies. Michael provides details on the impetus behind the article series and what happened after hitting publish. It's a crazy story.

Next we try to take Michael to task on his opinions regarding the Independent Brewer Seal from the Brewers Association. It's one of our most lively debates to date that lands us on the most shockingly concise definition of the word "craft."

Finally, Michael breaks down the criticism GBH gets for ties to AB InBev in great detail (Spoiler: there are none.). It's a level of detail he doesn't owe us or anyone, but it serves as a testament to how open and transparent he runs his rag. They're doing good work, and we appreciate them taking the time to talk to us. We're also super grateful to The Porter Beer Bar for lending their fantastic cellar for recording!
