For nearly 30 years, Les Payne tracked down every person who knew Malcolm X to paint a complex picture of the man from childhood to death. Principal researcher Tamara Payne, who finished the book written by her late father, joins host Krys Boyd to discuss previously unknown details of the man central to the Black freedom movement. The book, a 2020 National Book Award winner for nonfiction, is “The Dead Are Arising: The Life of Malcolm X.”
