He recounted that after a confrontation at a Los Angeles diner, Combs armed himself with three handguns and ordered James to drive him back to the location to confront Knight. James expressed fear for his life during this event, stating it was the first time he felt truly endangered while working for Combs. This incident led him to resign from his position.
