What I really liked here was that we spoke about how to do the unscalable first and then start scaling, Joe gave a really actionable episode here which you can use to really scale your internet marketing.
Firstly what is engagement?
Experts say a good 10% of members is a good number - this means they are commenting and showing up, I think though we need to unpack that a bit because just because people aren’t commenting doesn’t mean they aren’t engaged
Here’s mistakes membership site owners make:
Now after this episode you aren’t going to be those guys!
For me an engaged member falls into one of these:
I learnt this from doing my lurker week - that a lot of people get what they need by just reading and don’t feel the need to add anything to the discussion
Actionable steps
Don’t post random stuff or where you just ask Q’s - post different types of content and speak to them
Randomly message people who don't comment to see how they are
This will mean you don't just focus on engagement numbers!

Every day, I watch as membership site owners struggle to engage with their audiences. Some are even resorting to the dreaded "please like me" tactic - which is not only ineffective but also turns off potential audience members.
In this podcast, we'll discuss 3 easy ways you can increase engagement in your membership site without coming across as desperate or needy.
1) Ask Q's - Your members are the hero here, so ask yourself what do they want? Then create a list of everything they need to know around that topic then brainstorm a list of questions! Make sure you break the seriousness up with some fun!
2) Share personal stories about how you overcame a challenge in order to help others do the same thing: People want to know that if they follow your advice, they will
3) Use badges brainstorm a list of badges that could increase engagement, for example recently I used a MVP badge which increased engagement and I give this away everymonth! You could also combine this with a leaderboard!
You can create a powerful community by fostering trust and authenticity with your members. Be proactive about creating the best customer experience possible, and you will see an increase in engagement that could lead to higher revenue for your business! To help you take this first step, we’ve created a list of 3 tips. Which one do think will be the most effective?

The podcast was inspired by the question, "Is your community a club or a dinner party?" Our Mathilde Circle.so Community Manager posed this question in her post about getting your membership off to an engaging start.
The analogy helped me think of how I get something from attending events like family parties and what I can do with that experience when it comes to my own communities as well - for example creating relevant content will help people feel more invested in their memberships!
Listening to this episode will help you...
• Build a sense of community with your membership
• Create relevant content to engage members
• Share best practices for running an audience-focused community
With these tips in mind, you can create community that will grow into a loyal group of customers and advocates. What steps are you taking to build your membership? How have these tricks helped you connect with your audience?
100 - (Case Study) How I Increased Engagement In My Community 70% in 7 Days!
In this episode I will break down how I increased community engagement by 70% in 7 days, I’ll break down the whole process so you can have all my key takeaways.
Shall we get into it?
So I got this idea from a blog post by digital marketer, where they ran an experiment to do a lurker week to try and increase their silent members in their community - it got me thinking I had 700 members at the time but only 20% of them engaged - I know others got value as they read the posts
BUT could I get them to post?
What was my aim? I wanted people to get more out of the community, I know they emailed or privately messaged but I knew they’d learn faster and get more out of it from communicating in the group.
The results were:
