The Misery Machine

This week, Drewby and Yergy head back to Indiana and respond to some of your comments regarding James Brian Chadwell, the social media witch hunt regarding the Delphi case, and a few new cases from the area that you, the listeners, submitted to us for review.

A very special thank you to Levi for supporting our show as our highest tier patron!

This week, we go back to our roots in Lewiston, Maine, to discuss an extremely tragic case that occurred in the fall 2007 at Affiliated Computer Service - where Yergy and Drewby first met and worked for years. When Donna Paradis, a pregnant mother of two was offered an affordable used car from her coworker Richard Dwyer, the gesture seemed like a godsend. But this seemingly kind gesture soon turned into a nightmare that rocked the city of Lewiston, and Affiliated Computer Services to it's core.

This week, Drewby and Yergy discuss the tragic story of Elisa Izquierdo, a 6 year old girl that was failed by New York State's Child Protective Services after the tragic death of her loving father. Elisa could have had a bright future after finding  a royal benefactor - but sadly this Cinderella story wasn't meant to be.

This week, Yergy and Drewby take a trip up to Baraboo, Wisconsin, and cover a listener suggestion from none other than the amazing Eddy! Baraboo is a town that's all about the circus - but it's known for another darker scandal that rocked the community in the 90's when kids were going missing and turning up mangled in unimaginable ways.

I Survived: Season 5 Episode 18

Madison Wisconsin State Journal Newspaper Archives 11/2/1996 pg 45

A year later, Drewby and Yergy revisit the killing of Abby Williams and Libby German in Delphi, Indiana - two young girls just out enjoying the Delphi Historic Trails. The case was made popular in part due to the fact that Libby German captured audio and video of her suspected murderer on her smartphone. This month, a new suspect has entered the case, 20 miles south in the town of Lafayette, Indiana. Will the victims soon have justice?

We're back in Boston, Massachusetts this week - discussing one of the cities most tragic unsolved cases - the murder of Swedish au pair, Karina Holmer, who's bisected body was found in a dumpster by a homeless man on Boylston Street, not far from Fenway Park and the Berklee College of Music. We go on location to the former Club Zanzibar, and discuss the numerous theories in the case.

This week, Drewby and Yergy take a trip (quite literally) down to Boston's Chinatown and discuss the Boston Chinatown Massacre, by far one of the worst spree killings to take place in Massachusetts history - and how organized crime changed the landscape of the neighborhood in decades past.

This week, Drewby and Yergy cover another listener suggestion (thank you Bec!) and travel 17 miles east of Vancouver to the Canadian city of Port Coquitlam, British Columbia for the horrific case of Robert "Willie" Pickton, a Canadian pig farmer and serial killer that terrorized the homeless for years. With the police denying the crimes were even happening, how did Pickton's reign ever come to an end?

This week, Drewby and Yergy take a trip down under and discuss Katherine Knight, whose crimes shook New South Wales to it's core, earning her the most severe sentence every handed down to a woman in Australia. We touch on our reoccurring theme of bystander apathy, and domestic violence against men and why we as a society need to do more for all people suffering abuse.
