The Most Underrated Habit to Beat the Winter Blues

Listen Later

Winter can feel heavy - the darkness, the cold, the dip in motivation, the low-level sadness that just kind of hangs around.

In today’s short bonus episode, I’m sharing one of the most underrated habits you can lean on this time of year to support your mental health, nervous system, and overall well-being.

And no, it’s not a fancy workout, a strict routine, or something you have to hype yourself up for.

It’s walking.

Join Me: 30 Miles in 30 Days Walking Challenge

Starting Monday, January 12, we’re launching a FREE 30 Miles in 30 Days Walking Challenge over on the Mommy Tummy Fix YouTube channel.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Walk 1 mile a day for 30 days
  2. Walk outside, on a treadmill, around your kitchen or anywhere you can move
  3. I’ll be posting a 15-minute, 1-mile walk-at-home video every day for the next 30 days so you can walk right alongside me — in your living room, bedroom, or wherever you are

This challenge isn’t about shrinking yourself.

It’s about supporting yourself.

It’s about:

  1. Clearing your head
  2. Moving your body kindly
  3. Showing up for yourself in a small, doable way

Especially in winter, when it’s easy to retreat and disconnect, daily movement can be incredibly grounding and healing.

Walking is one of the most powerful (and realistic) forms of movement we have (especially as moms). It lowers stress instead of spiking it, helps regulate your nervous system, supports fat loss without burnout, and boosts your mood in a way that actually lasts.

Even a 10–15 minute walk can:

  1. Improve your mood
  2. Reduce anxiety
  3. Clear mental fog
  4. Create a small reset in your day

I truly believe this:

You’re always one short walk away from a better mood.

Not a perfect day.

Not a perfect mindset.

Just… better. And better adds up.

And remember - all walking counts:

Walking while you clean, pushing a stroller, pacing your kitchen, treadmill steps, or walking outside. It all matters.

If winter has felt heavy lately, let this be your gentle reminder:

You don’t need to overhaul your life.

You don’t need to do something extreme.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do…

is put one foot in front of the other.

I’ll see you on our walk! 💛
