Carolyn gets the phone call that nobody should ever get.  Lydia is dead.

After Ken directed his children to leave and go to a friend’s house while he and Lydia argued, they heard one of Ken’s gun safes being opened as they left the house.

And Lydia’s murderer Ken, goes on the run with the U.S. Marshalls in pursuit.

The Murder of Lydia Blanche Cassady | Part 2 of 4

In episode 2, Carolyn Hundley describes plans that were discussed that would help Lydia leave the relationship she was in with Kenneth Strange. Those plans included using funds from Lydia’s father’s estate, after he passed away in October 2021.  Oddly enough, Lydia’s murderer had other plans for her money.

We learn that after her father’s death, and Ken’s constant insistence that he spend the estate money, Lydia’s demeanor toward Ken changed dramatically, as if she was through with him and the relationship.  

In the weeks leading up to the murder, Lydia gets a job, offering some financial independence, new friends and relationships and bolsters her confidence.

In our interview, another woman comes into the picture, Ken leans in harder with wedding plans and Carolyn describes seeing her sister, for the last time.

Join Wendy and David as they talk to Carolyn Hundley, the sister of domestic violence murder victim Lydia Blanche Cassady.  Lydia was brutally murdered in Nicholasville Kentucky by her long-time partner in January 2022.  In episode 1, Carolyn shares just who Lydia was as a child and a mother.  We also hear what some of the first signs may have been that Lydia’s relationship with her killer could prove to be dangerous.

On January 18, 2015, family of then 40 ear-old Todd Schumacher went to his home to check on him, because he had not been feeling well and he was distraught over his missing dog. When they arrived, they found themselves in a horrific crime scene.

While one person was knocking on the front door of the house, another saw a person look out the window at the top of the door that appeared to be Todd’s boyfriend, Matthew. They knocked on the front door and the back door, but nobody answered. They went to the carport door, through which they could see splatters of blood inside. After they broke into the house through the back door, they found "blood everywhere' in the kitchen.

They went to the bedroom and saw the "Please send to heaven Todd + Matt." written in blood on the bedroom wall. Todd was lying naked on the floor "with chunks of flesh taken out of his body." They felt Todd's neck for a pulse and found that he was dead. Matthew was lying on the bed and fidgeting with something silver in his hand.
