The New LoFi Mixtape

Happy October y’all! This month we’re featuring new music from Sven Wunder, Baby Cool, Maverick Sabre, Photay, John Carroll Kirby, The Offline, Janko Nilovic, Dream Sitch, Nick Marks, and many more

We’ve gone full psychedelic exotica on this month’s mix ranging from the far-out soul jazz to the crunchier side of indie. I don’t know what it is about Autumn that makes me want to listen to grungy indie, soul, and jazz, but it just seems to fit. I hope you enjoy the following two hours of new music from all around the world.

But before we get into the mix, here are a couple of music videos that feature from the tape:

Baby Cool’s beautifully shot music video for “The Sea”

The funky soul jazz video for “Mates” by John Carroll Kirby

“If I Could Only Love You Again” by Maverick Sabre

The psychedelic new video for “Everlasting Love” by Chitinous Mandible

The Monthly Mixtape is also available on iTunes.

By the way, you should check out our Ten Year Anniversary album in beautiful translucent yellow vinyl. Available in a limited-edition marbled blue vinyl as well. If you want to give the record a sample before you buy, have a listen on our mixtape special podcast here.

May 2024 Mixtape Playlist

for the last couple of months we’ve been playing around with a variety of music from all around the world — american desert rock, arabic funk and tropical exotica to turkish psychedelic and french jazz.

However, over the past few months, I’ve been saving up the electronic music that has been submitted to the blog and so for this month we are switching gears from world music to over an hour of solid electronic.

But before we get into the mix, here are a couple of music videos featured from this month’s selection:

April 2024 Mixtape Playlist

This month we are carrying on with the eclectic music from all over the world with a mix of psychedelic French indie, Turkish funk, and American desert rock. It’s sort of an evolution of last month’s mix of tropical exotica and jazz.  But this mix has a low key swagger all the way through.

Look out for new music from Headache, Dina Ögon, Monster Rally, Hether, Vanishing Twin, Helado Negro, and many more.

But before we get into the mix, you should chekc out the new album from The Breathing Effect called Eli & Harry — we’ve featured one of the singles from that album on this month’s mix… it’s called “Shake It Up” and it’s around 11 mins into the mix. And also, have a look at this trippy new Helado Negro video for their single “I Just Want To Wake Up With You”

The Monthly Mixtape is also available on iTunes, and Stitcher.

March 2024 Mixtape Playlist

This month, we’ve got an eclectic mix of music  that starts somewhere in the tropical exotica space and ends up in something a bit more electronic. But before the mix reaches its destination, it wanders down a few side streets to explore — some soul, some disco, some hip hop a little bit of psychedelic jazz and a couple other musical curios.

Look out for new music from Jungle, Kraak & Smaak, Jamie xx, Greg Wilson, Gianni Brezzo, Vegyn, YIN YIN, Soul Wun, and many more. Scroll down to see some featured videos from this month’s mix and links to the full albums from The Offline and YIN YIN.
