  • Listener Q&A - Support System Tips
Supporting a loved one who is struggling with OCD can be extremely difficult and frustrating at times. Unfortunately, many people are unknowingly fueling their loved one's OCD instead of helping, because they love them so much and hate to see them suffer. Here are a few tips I have learned along my journey to properly help your loved one who is suffering. A great resource to check out is iocdf.org - here you can find OCD therapists in your area and connect with advocates within the community who can help you out!
Next week I will do part two of this episode, so stay tuned! In the mean time, feel free to reach out to me with any questions or episode suggestions - [email protected] | @ocdebunked

  • The Routine Challenge
Over the past few years, I have noticed how essential a good routine is to OCD recovery. For those who struggle with mental health disorders, their brains are already using up so much energy to just make it through the day. Creating a structure that becomes second-nature helps alleviate so much stress of remembering to complete daily tasks! Feel free to reach out with questions, suggestions, and to tell me how your routine challenge is going! [email protected] @ocdebunked

  • Do Society’s Jokes Impact OCD Recovery Progress?
Today I discuss the classic “Obsessive Christmas Disorder” sweaters and how society making light of OCD can actually impact treatment. Not only is it extremely hurtful, but it also results in less accessible treatment and longer periods of suffering before diagnosis.

In this episode, I discuss the difficult reality of slips, lapses, and relapses. The hard thing about OCD is that it is a continuous journey, one that needs constant attention and upkeep. Throughout your journey, it is very normal to slip back and struggle, so it is super important to have tools in your belt to know how to pick yourself back up again and continue on with your recovery!

  • "You Just Need To Exercise More!"

Have you ever tried exercising to cure your mental struggles? According to some people, this is the magical be-all-end-all cure for any major mental disorder and the reason you're not getting better is that you're not doing it enough! Kick back with me while I explore this topic; if rolling my eyes counts as exercise, I think I've fulfilled my quota for the day...

But in all seriousness - exercise has its benefits and can be a great tool in your wheelhouse! Just make sure you're using it as a tool to enhance your treatment rather than expecting it to be treatment itself, and you might be surprised how great of an outlet it is to allow you to shut your brain off for a while and decompress.

I'd love to hear from you about any podcast topic recommendations or any questions/comments you have! You can message me on Instagram (@ocdebunked) or email me ([email protected]).
