Capt. Kevin was back from The Roost and in the home studio once again, and the chatter got back to fishing. The air and water temps have dropped quite a bit, but you gotta listen in to find out how it’s all affecting the fish.
That takes care of the “fishin” part, but what about the “preppin”? Well, this time of year, it’s pretty impossible to NOT talk about the annual OS Christmas Show at Ringpower (next Saturday, of course). Are you ready for a big time with LOTS of big prizes? Well, if not, you’ve still got time to gear up, because it’s gonna be HUGE!!!
And oh yeah…this wouldn’t be an episode of the Fishing Forecast if it didn’t have a forecast, right? Listen in to get the details on just how good (or not so good) the fishing’s going to be over the next seven days.
It’s a chilly one this morning…especially in Georgia, where Capt. Kevin and Jeff did the show this week. As you could guess, there was a ton of deer talk from the guys, with a bunch of great stories about “Poseidon”, “Tank”, “Hand Truck”, “Steak Knife”, and all those nicknamed bucks we love so much.
But since this show is all about fishing too, Capt. Kirk checked in with some in shore updates, and Capt. Chip Wingo and Capt. Ricky Poupore contributed to the conversation too!
Capt. Kevin kicked off the show…from his place in Georgia! He brought Capt. Chip Wingo with him, since both Capt. Kirk and Jeff were off doing some OSR of their own. They both managed to check in, though – Kirk was getting ready to go hook up with some sheepshead, and Jeff took some time out to share the story of “Hand Truck Buck”. What a story!
Capt. Ricky Poupore also joined Kevin and Chip to talk about his HUGE hunting adventure.
And when you throw in some, well, INTERESTING turkey facts, you’ve got one heck of a listen on your hands.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!
Thanksgiving is just around the corner, of course, but even though Capt. Kevin was spending time in Georgia, there was NO WAY he wasn’t gonna talk fishing…and just how thankful we should all be for such a great fishery. And he wasn’t the only thankful one – Capt. Cory, Capt. Leon, and Capt. Chip all chimed in with thankful stories of their own.
But…will we be thankful for the weather this upcoming week? You’ll have to listen to find out.
The guys were back in the studio this week, and boy, did they have A LOT to talk about. Capt. Kevin had the spotlight, since he had the opportunity to harvest one of his biggest target bucks!
Of course there was fishing talk, foodie talk…and somehow, this episode turned into the Strange Pronunciation Game! Yeah, you’ll have to listen to figure that one out.
Capt. Kevin was quick to talk about just how good the weather’s been over the past week, but with a cold front rolling in soon, the question is just how good is it going to be over the next seven days? The usual cast of characters checked in to give their two cents, and then Kevin cranked out the forecast so we can all get ready to fish…or not!
Coming to you LIVE from Hagan Ace in Callahan, it was a huge event kicked off by Paul Wane doing the National Anthem! Capt. Kevin shared his story about his latest deer, and the guys talked to a bunch of great people about a bunch of great stuff available at the Callahan Ace.
In what is a first for the Fishing Forecast, Capt. Kevin took his show on the road…a LOOOOOOONG road, in fact! He was doing some OSR from Georgia all week, so he checked in through the wonders of modern technology! But not to fear – there was plenty of First Coast fishing talk to be heard, as well as some time spent on the weather forecast for the upcoming week. Don’t miss it!
Jeff was out of office tending to his Jaguars duties, so Capt. Kevin and Capt. Kirk welcomed in Capt. Chip Wingo to talk about the crazy month that was October…and speculate on what kind of month November’s gonna be.
But this episode was much more than a few captains reading tea leaves. Dr. Todd Osborne, from the UF Whitney Laboratory of Marine Bioscience at Marine Land, called in to go into deep water about clams and the current clam restoration projects happening in the region. If you want to know ANYTHING about clams…this is the episode for you!
And if you’re wondering about this one going sideways at all…it didn’t disappoint. Where else will you find a conversation about clams, oysters, bananas and boiled peanuts?
And…one more time:
First things first: no Halloween dad jokes in this description. You deserve better, so we’re avoiding that nonsense…
Now, down to business: it’s been a bizarre month as you know, but it got sideways again last Friday, with Capt. Kevin talking about a CRAZY sheepshead and black drum bite going on. Capt. Cory chimed in to talk about today’s fun trout bite, and the usual cast of characters checked in with stories of their own.
Of course, Kevin took some time for the first November forecast, too. Is it a good one? You’ll have to listen in to find out.
