Overlanding is not considered a hobby, and for good reason. Yes, we do have collections of certain things that we love and cherish. The 18 coffee makers that dawn the shelves in our kitchen and the countless number of antique Coleman stoves in my garage are proof of that. That is a hobby. But when you put all of pieces together, Overlanding is known more and considered more as a way of life than a hobby. There are parts of it that are deemed an obsession or interest in our lives but collectively you come up with a beautiful lifestyle that many are being drawn to every day. We build our rigs, we buy the gear, and we research areas and routes and immerse ourselves into every nook and cranny of this lifestyle.  We join every social media group so we can see what others do, post questions when we have them, and keep tabs on events that are in our areas. But what makes this a lifestyle is not what we have, not what we look at and research, it is not how much gear we can collect or how much stuff we can pack into our rigs. What differentiates this from any other hobby in life is family. The people that we meet at different events. The good friends that we develop over campfires and propane fired dinners. Those that we take time out of our busy lives, and vacation at work, to spend time together. We care for each other. We live for that next time we can get together and miss each other when we are apart. We call often. We message or text daily or weekly. We plan together and enjoy this particular lifestyle together.  That is what makes Overlanding so special. The people. Those in our Overlanding Family.

The 4th Annual Rendezvous in the Ozarks was held as always on the 3rd weekend in October in 2020. A record number of 600 plus rigs and thousands of attendees came together in Oark AR at Byrds Adventure Center to see vendors, check out rigs, attend classes, run trails, and just have a great time see old friends and meeting new people. This is a two part series the first where Michael (from All Over Overland) and I recap our weekend and then some talk around the campfire for Episode 2 to give you that down home feeling of being there.

The 4th Annual Rendezvous in the Ozarks hosted by Natural State Overland is an Expo Style event. Vendors come and showcase all of their new gear, trailers, rigs and equipment to the many overlanders who attend this event. Last year around 350 rigs were registered. This year there are more than 500 registered and it may prove to be the best event of 2020. We will have more to come from the event but for now we are just wanting the world to know how excited we are to be en route!
