The NCAA's new rule permitting players to profit from their name, image, and likeness (NIL) has stirred the pot in college football this offseason. Though worthy to note, the impact it will have on college football is largely overblown.

Oregon only stands to gain from the continued use of NIL to attract big-time recruits to the school. But the Ducks' expectations on the recruiting trail shouldn't radically change because of it.

The transfer portal's one-time "freebee" will have a much bigger impact on Dan Lanning and his new staff. This off-season hasn't been bad to the Ducks at all when it comes to the transfer portal.
