  • The Panel with Andrew Hoggard and Catherine Robertson (Part 2)
The editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan has penned an opinion piece about being 40 with no friends, close or otherwise. We ask the panelists about their friendships, the enduring ones and the ones that have slipped away over the years. What the Panelists Andrew Hoggard and Catherine Robertson want to tak about. We remember Sir Roger Bannister's achievements in sports and medicine. The Commonwealth Games winner died over the weekend at age 88, after battling Parkinson's disease. He became the first man to run a mile in under four minutes. He then went on to become a leading neurologist. It's Hearing Loss Awareness Week and we're joined by the Director of Auckland's Hearing and Tinnitus Clinic, Grant Searchfield, to discuss new research, including studies suggesting hearing loss could be a warning sign for memory loss in the elderly. We also ask the panelists if they, or anyone they know have experienced hearing loss. Today is Day One of Timothy Chittock attempt to set a new record for cycling the length of New Zealand. The 26-year-old is trying to raise funds for Epilepsy New Zealand, having seen the effects of the disease first hand in his family. The current record is 4 days, 10 hours set in 2017 by Craig Harper and only two people have managed to complete it. We speak to Tim while he's on his bike. The Academy Awards are held today with a couple of Kiwi nominees in the mix. There's controversy on and off the red carpet, many debating how the #metoo and Time's Up movements will be dealt with, while the movies are being scrutinised. The Auckland rail network should be back to normal soon with the drivers' union and Transdev coming to an agreement, after a week of strike action. Transdev and Auckland Transport wanted to make it so train drivers would control the doors and train officers would manage problems but the union argued it would be unsafe for passengers. We ask John Kerr, from the Rail and Maritime Transport Union, what they've settled. Another major concert in New Zealand has seen concert-goers left in the lurch once again due to dodgy ticket websites. The ticket re-seller Viagogo is at the heart of the problem, with fans spending hundreds of dollars only to be turned away the venue door. One such disappointed buyer is Tauranga father Tommy Wilson, who bought tickets for his daughter to Bruno Mars in Auckland, but they turned out to be fake. He has banded together with other angry Viagogo customers to aproach the Commerce Commission about the issue. We speak to Mr Wilson and also get a response from the commission. Small businesses in Auckland are lashing out against plans to create cycleways and bigger bus lanes in local shopping centres. Many are worried removing carparks in favour of cycleways and bus stops will see a reduction in customers and years of roadworks. The panelists weigh in on the controversy.
