  • The Panel with Clarke Gayford and Sandy Hodge (Part 2)
A woman in Britian has discovered who the mystery man is who has been putting flowers on her brother's grave for nearly 70 years. The man turned out to be a childhood friend of the young boy who had shared a tent with him at a camp on the night he died. The panellists tells us about their long-lasting friendships and the childhood memories that have stayed with them. What the Panelists Clarke Gayford and Sandy Hodge want to talk about. Auckland council's CEO has rejected a debate on scrapping business-class and premium-class travel. Almost half of the council's expenditure on overseas travel has gone on business-class flights. Councillors Efeso Collins and John Watson had put forward a motion to exclude flights from the council's funding and require staff to report their international travel, but it's been rejected from the council's agenda. Manukau councillor Efeso Collins tells us why he believes staff shouldn't be travelling in luxury. The infamous leader of the murderous '60s cult Charles Manson has died at the age of 83. For many the murders his "family" carried out can't be forgotten, for the younger generation, Manson has been immortalised in numerous TV shows, documentaries and books. In the wake of his death, the panellists discuss why this man commanded such a following. A court ruling that may have seen many tenants receive rent refunds has been overturned. Originally the Dunedin landlords were stuck with a bill of $10,000, a rent refund to their tenant after she noticed the property she was living in had unpermitted alterations. Following an appeal, the tenant now has to pay it back. We speak to New Zealand Property Investors Federation executive officer Andrew King, who says it's a relief the court ruling has been overturned as it was already starting to set a precedent. The Queen has honoured her husband for "services to the sovereign" on their 70th wedding anniversary. He is now the Duke of Edinburgh Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order. It's being seen as a gesture for his years of devotion to Her Majesty. We ask the panellists - particularly the Prime Minister's partner, Clarke Gayford - what they think of the recognition.

It comes This comes as the government and Auckland council continue to debate where the bases for the regatta will be placed on the city's crowded waterfront. It's still unclear whether a controversial expansion of the port will go ahead and, if it doesn't, what the alternative will be. We ask the panellists what they'd like to see happen. Countdown supermarket is restricting the the sale of Lindauer's new Sparkling Grape Juice to people with ID and only during the store's alcohol-dealing hours. Despite the bottle being labelled as "alcohol-free" the supermarket released a statement saying it doesn't want to "normalise" a product that looks like alcohol. Dr Nicki Jackson, Executive Director of the Alcohol Healthwatch, believes countdown needs to go a step further and make sure the product is placed alongside wine and beer, and not in aisles where kids may see it. Andrew Little, the minister responsible for Pike River, says manned re-entry to the mine is a dangerous task and won't be attempted til at least 2019, if ever. The government still believes it's possible to go back into the mine and see if there are any human remains of the 29 men that were killed ine the blast of 2010. The panellists weigh in on whether this effort is showing support for the families or if it will actually eventuate. The associate Transport Minister Julie Anne Genter held a meeting with the ministry, police and NZTA focusing on how they'll tackle road fatalities. Officials will outline a plan for the government to implement which is expected to be announced later this year.
