Injuries in sport can be challenging for your kids, especially when it slows down progress or gets in the way of reaching personal goals. But what if your child could find the value in setbacks, and use it to make them better athletes and students.
Experiencing setbacks earlier in life can actually help your child deal with future challenges better. Marvin Fidel, former Redfield student in the graduating class of 2014, shares his personal story of disappointment due to injury in sport. Following his injury Marvin discovered his motivation to succeed doubled, and the process of overcoming that hurdle has since helped him in many of life's difficulties.
Now as a teacher teaching sports to secondary students, Marvin hopes his students find patience, motivation and determination in the midst of a challenge.

Is technology replacing quality time with your son?
Growing up today is different to how most of us remember. Technology and its demands on our children are creating new ways to connect, but more ways to feel disconnected.
Trent Thomas, Mathematics teacher and Director of Formation at Redfield College, discusses how to build trust, make room for quality time and handle technology with your son in this episode. A father himself, Trent shares some tips he's learned along the way to keep up with the world your son is growing up in and stay relevant to your son and his education.
Today's attraction to technology, exposed to children at ages far earlier than before, poses a risk to father-son relationships, dedication to study and nurturing talents in young boys.
This episode will give you an insight into understanding your child's perspective, cultivating a healthy use of time on technology at home, and keeping the important things in focus for your child during their most critical years as a student.
