Well, well, well. That was interesting week of throws! Olympic medalists became Turkish, World Champs rounded back into form, women's jav continues to be unpredictable, and Camryn Rogers won something (okay, that's not THAT interesting). To quote everyone after Kostas Zaltos won the NCAA hammer title last Wednesday: "Opa!" NCAA Outdoors lived up to every bit of hype it could have possibly garnered with nail-biting competitions, huge upsets, and a pair massive meet records. The Hayward Magic was alive and well in Eugene. Let's break it all down.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/pauliethrows/Twitter: https://x.com/phofmahoneySpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2FKLGcxqolpBloTohexHG5?si=026b2fdd0d424223Thumbnail Photo Credits: @audreyallen17

A solid week of throws for us to discuss today! Slow week for javelin, but the usual suspects showed up in the disc, Ethan Katzberg and Brooke Andersen kept their foot on the gas in the hammer, and we FINALLY have the first 22m shot putter of 2025.

THE COLLEGIATE SEASON IS COMING TO A CLOSE, LET'S GIVE SOME PICKS! Today I make some ill-fated podium predictions while in the car to Eugene for NCAA Outdoors. This has been one of the best seasons in collegiate history and there's no reason to doubt that this week will be any less insane or any less historic. "Quality over quantity" was the name of the game for This Week In Throws, and the people we talk about in this edition BROUGHT IT! Mykolas Alekna and Kristjan Ceh have seemingly made 72m throws in the discus look easy, the Kip Keino Classic once again brought together the world's best hammer throwers for some huge marks, and shot putters are starting to pick up steam. Plus, we bring on a special guest for a Q&A breakdown of NCAA Regionals.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/pauliethrows/Twitter: https://x.com/phofmahoneySpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2FKLGcxqolpBloTohexHG5?si=026b2fdd0d424223Thumbnail Credits: Mykolas Alekna - Audrey Allen; Camryn Rogers - Brayden Wolf

THIS WEEK WAS JAM-PACKED WITH LEGENDARY THROWING ACTION! We saw the best two-day discus double ever by Kristjan Čeh, one of the greatest days in the history of the hammer throw, and another banger of a Diamond League. Lots to talk about, let's hop right in.

The summer throwing season is officially in full swing! The Diamond League circuit continued last week in Doha, where Julian Weber and Neeraj Chopra broke into the history books with the first 90m throws of their careers. Matty Denny continued his DL discus domination with a comfortable win at 68.97m. One-meets across Europe are gaining more and more steam each day, as the throws content and results are seemingly endless now. Back in the U.S., collegians competed at their conference meets as they gear up for what looks to be an epic postseason.WSPS Recap: https://youtu.be/yKt3zuqa4-0Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/pauliethrows/Twitter: https://x.com/phofmahoneySpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2FKLGcxqolpBloTohexHG5?si=026b2fdd0d424223Thumbnail Photo Credits: Julian Weber - @kevmofoto | Kostas Zaltos and Angelos Mantzouranis - @audreyallen17

The second outing of Ryan Crouser's World Shot Put Series did not disappoint. Hosted at Sorinex Summer Strength in South Carolina, defending WSPS Champ Roger Steen was pushed to his limits by Olympic finalist Payton Otterdahl. After a dramatic challenge and a two-round throw-off, Otterdahl came out on top with a MASSIVE throw that was well over 73ft.Livestream Replay: https://youtube.com/live/-i1Znq6W5XE?feature=shareInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/pauliethrows/Twitter: https://x.com/phofmahoneySpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2FKLGcxqolpBloTohexHG5?si=026b2fdd0d424223

The outdoor season is in full swing now with another high-powered Diamond League in the books so let's talk about it. Chase Jackson popped off again, Elina Tzengko continued her winning ways, and Valarie Allman topped 70 meters once again. Outside of China, Deanna Price and Tyler Williams brought the hammer heat while NCAA throwers are beginning to peak for the postseason.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/pauliethrows/ Twitter/X: https://x.com/phofmahoney
