Back Chat’s Back (Alright)

And this time we take you down memory lane to reminisce about all the great athletes we’ve met on our adventures over the years. From Crystal Palace in the 80’s to the Euro Champs in 2026 few legends have managed to escape our eagle eyes.

1930’s High Jumpers, 1940’s Sprinters, 1950’s Milers and 1960’s Long Jumpers have all thrilled us in person. They’ll be household names, Olympic Champions and a surprisingly large amount of female throwers from the 70’s and 80’s.

Jaz and Jody are holding the fort as Bayo gallivants around Europe but they all have plenty to say about a successful (If divisive) World Ultimates.

There are interviews from the likes of Giambo, Josh, Amy and Kenny B as well as our reaction to a shock Nairobi announcement.

But most importantly our Long Jump Queen can now have a rest :-)

After a fantastic Backstraight Meet Up we're a but worse for wear but did make it to the stadium for a jam packed evening (Some of which we don't really remember).

Team GB won double relay Gold and the Irish fans had plenty to celebrate with HEP Gold for Kate O'Connor and 1500m Bronze for Andrew Coscoran.

Andy Diaz Hernandez  jumped the 4th best TJ or all time and Julien Weber clinched a last gasp JT title with a huge CR of 90.40 whilst Andreas Almgren's runaway 10 victory left us confused.

But the highlight of the day occurred in the morning when Jaz's one and done qualification left us elated and impressed a certain Long Jump Goat the legendary Heike Drechsler, who joins us on the pod for our favourite interview of the week.

Elsewhere it was a good night for Tokyo21 legends as Gimbo defied the odds to make it 4 Euro HJ Golds and Karsten swept to victory with a CR in the 400h.

Britain gained another silver from Zharnel in the 200m amid a controversial win from Germany's Owen Ansah and Italy topped the medal table thanks to Nadia Battocletti's distance double.

As Ireland have a Golden night we speak to 800m royalty Wilson Kipketer and Ellen van Langen to discuss Mark English's majestic win and whether Femke can cause and upset in the women's race.

On a great night of athletics (And our all time favourite medal podium), Amy did the sprint double, Rhasidat surprised herself with silver and Dina inched one medal closer to the top of the all time medal table.

Kristjan Ceh stunned with the longest championship discus throw of all time and we discuss the controversial reinstatement of 800m fave Audrey Werro.

Elsewhere Emily Newnham takes a stunning 400h silver behind Emma Zapletalova with a huge new PB and we ponder why the BBC is so obsessed with crowd sizes???

We're joined by UK Sprint Queen Ashleigh Nelson as Team GB get off to a Golden start with Amy storming to victory in the 100m.

Reigning champions Leonardo Fabbri and Jessica Schilder retained their Shot Put titles but there was heartbreak for Scott Lincoln as he came agonisingly 4th again.

Overall the night belonged to Norway who claimed double Gold with a resurgent Jackob making it 7 in a row and a Karsten lead Mixed 4x4 Team triumphing just as they has predicted at the London DL.
