Originally shot in 2017 for release in 2018, The New Mutants has spent more than its fair share of time in Limbo (pun intended). Depending on your perspective, it could be considered a coda to the entire 20 year X-Men film franchise, or alternately the final nail in its coffin; Either way it's a strange beast of a film that does have the dubious honour of being the only Marvel film release in 2020.

Since her 1992 introduction in Batman The Animated Series, Harley Quinn has been an immediate favourite of audiences of all ages. Her design has changed innumerable times in her relatively short existence, shifting from harlequin-like clown to Goth-punk, Roller-Derby badass and occasionally taking sidesteps in BDSM mistress. Her stand-alone animated series (originally on DC Universe) now takes the character into new, far more empowered and emancipated territory, while upping the adult aspects of the character (not to mention the language).

This weeks podcast is about two of our favourite topics, neatly tied into one rather enjoyable film; Love and Monsters (directed by Michael Matthews) follows the ill-advised journey of our unlikely hero Joel, (Dylan O'Brien) as he leaves the relative safety of his apocalypse bunker to try to reconnect with Aimee (Jessica Henwick), whom he dated briefly before the world went to hell. It's a surprisingly relevant story in these unprecedented Covid times…

It's a film of many influences; Part Fallout, part The Last of Us mixed with a healthy dose of Zombieland to boot, which makes for a strange blend but an enjoyable watch. Dion, Peta, Jill and Quinny haven't decided who the faithful dog of their Apocalypse survival group is, but the odds are currently on Quinny.

This week we return to the televisual realm to check back in on a few series we've now had more time to explore. Raised by Wolves, The Boys and Lovecraft Country have all wrapped up their seasons, so we though it prudent to re-evaluate them with older, wiser (more jaded) eyes. The DC streaming service started really strong out of the gate, with shows like Titans, Harley Quinn and Swamp Thing, the one-two punch follow-ups were the more assured Doom Patrol and the effervescent nostalgia-hit Stargirl. Now that the streaming service is being wound-up (and the shows are peeling off to either HBO MAX or The CW) where does a show like Stargirl fit into this new world?

Dion and Quinny may be more akin to the original J.S.A. members for this podcast, but the young-blood of Jill and Peta are bringing us kicking and screaming into the 2020's!

Way back in 2014 we reviewed the British version of Utopia and had a lot of good things to say about it. Now 6 years later we're looking at the US remake on Amazon, and finding that a show about killer pandemics is much less fun when you're living in one.

Quinny, Dion Jill and Peta are all diving head-first down the rabbit hole this week to find what each of them has done, to earn their place in this crowded podcast.

The offerings on Apple+ have been a mixed bag: some shows definitely justify the subscription price, but others feel more like filler than killer. 'Ted Lasso', co-created by its star Jason Sudeikis, is most definitely a winner!

Sudeikis stars as the titular character, an American Football (NFL) coach from Kansas who's unexpectedly imported to England to try to change the fortunes of a failing Premier League football (aka soccer) team.

At first, this doesn't seem like a series that #TPToA fans of pop-culture would love, but... just trust us on this one!

Coach Dion and Kit Boy Quinny have just one player on the pitch for this episode: all-purpose MVP Captain, Wing, Striker and Goalie Peta, but together Team TPToA is determined to bring this one home for a victory! Football is Life!

Stranger things are afoot as Enola Holmes flips the world upside down on her more famous brother, Sherlock.  Millie Bobby Brown is turning it up to “eleven” (OK, stop it - Ed.) over her co-star Henry Cavill in this wonderful romp through Victorian England. The young detective encounters all things strange and monstrous on her first time in the outside world! This Netflix original has Jujitsu tea houses, extreme scrabble, and a slightly subtextual explanation of the women’s suffrage movement, giving you what for and good clean fun in "these trying times". Enola Holmes is a great time, and you should check it out. Also, forget the "Manic Pixie Dream Girl"... now you can have a "Magical Progressive Victorian Man"!

We've girded our loins and hammered our courage to the sticking place: Amazon Prime Video's comic-based superseries The Boys returns for a second blood-soaked season of morally reprehensible "fun"!

The Boys is diverging from its comic-book origins in order to evolve into something new: a dark reflection of the warped world which now surrounds us. (Does the world really need to BE any darker, you ask? Possibly not!)

Dion, Quinny and Peta may not be juiced with Compound V, but they're super-powered when it comes to sidestepping the technical issues and pitfalls of live podcast production via Zoom in a global pandemic!
